Dr. Andy Archer, MD was a fictional character on the SOAPnet prime-time soap opera General Hospital: Night Shift. He then appeared on the parent soap General Hospital until the character's death in 2009.

Andy is first introduced as an anesthesiologist at General Hospital who self-medicates with gas to get some quality sleep so that he is well-rested to work. He soon becomes addicted to this, and encourages and helps other doctors to do it as well.

During one of his sleep sessions using gas, nurse Jolene Crowell, who later is revealed to be working for the insurance company Medcam to kill in order to help them acquire the hospital, ups his dose and nearly kills him. He then has a one-night stand with Dr. Kelly Lee, who is battling sex addiction. After the two sleep together, they become friends and, realizing they both need help with their respective addictions, decide to support each other in healing.

In January of 2009, a man ingests five spheres full of a deadly biotoxin. Andy is on the surgery team that operates on him and subsequently dies after inhaling the biotoxin from the spheres. The release of the gas causes multiple fires and explosions in the hospital, resulting in the hospital burning down and having to be rebuilt.
