Cody Bell is a fictional character in the ABC daytime drama General Hospital. He is the son of Chief of Detectives Mac Scorpio and the late Dominique Baldwin.
He has been portrayed by Josh Kelly on contract[2] since June 1, 2022.
On March 25, 2024, it was reported that Kelly is temporarily exiting GH as the actor has taken time off to film an action movie "The Workout".[3][4]

Cody was born to the late Dominique Stanton and Mac Scorpio after their relationship has ended due to his feelings towards his brother Robert's ex-wife, Holly Sutton. After his birth, Dominique gave him up for adoption in order to protect him from Dominique's ex-husband, Leopold Taub.
After Cody was given to the Bells, Dominique met and married her love, Scott Baldwin and was diagnosed with a brain tumor, for her final gift, she wanted to give Scott, a child and their friend, Lucy Coe offered to carry their child, whom they have named, Serena Baldwin after the Stanton family home "Serenity".
His best friends are Dante Falconeri and Brook Lynn Quartermaine, whom he met when they were in their early teens. The three went to the neighborhood camps together: Dante and Cody were at Camp Cooper for the boys and Brook were at Camp Martha for the girls. Cody is the only one, besides her mother, Lois Cerullo, who knows about Brook Lynn's pregnancy with Dante's child that she gave up for adoption. Dante has no idea that he got Brook Lynn pregnant and she gave the baby up for adoption.
Dante was the only person who knew that Mac was Cody's biological father, after Cody confessed the truth to him, until after Cody learned that his friend Sasha Corbin was thinking about leaving Port Charles and moving to Austin, Texas for a fresh start after her ordeal and confessed to her about his biological connection to Mac and the main reasons why he was keeping his paternity a secret from Mac, until Cody told Mac the truth during the Fourth of July celebration in 2024.
He is friends with the late Sam McCall, his cousin Sasha Gilmore, and the late Britt Westbourne.
He become close to his newfound family, including Mac, Felicia Scorpio, Maxie Jones, and James West.
Storylines[]
On June 1, 2022, a man jumps from a plane and knocks Britt into the Metro Court pool during a Society Setups charity mixer. Maxie assumes it was a stunt that was arranged by the party. Dante recognizes the man and calls him Cody. Then Cody recognizes Dante and laughs that he became a cop. He was told the pool was supposed to be empty during his skydiving gig. Brad flirts with Cody while offering him a towel as Cody only has shorts on. Spinelli is impressed with the stunt but Britt is upset that Cody almost drowned her and she demands Dante arrest him. Dante cuffs Cody and takes him away. Britt seems to be attracted to Cody despite their introduction.
Dante takes Sam and Cody to Charlie's Pub. Cody tells Sam his name is Cody Bell and he and Dante used to get into all kinds of trouble together. Dante introduces Phyllis to Cody, his friend.
Dante explains to Sam that he met Cody when he was twelve and his mother sent him to summer camp to become well behaved. He ended up befriending Cody at camp and they faked a drowning and stole cigarettes. Cody smoked all of them which made him throw up. They would meet every year afterwards at camp. Cody says he was just passing through town and would be heading to the Finger Lakes for a job next. Sam says she may have a job as her kids got a new horse and they are looking for a handler. Cody turns her down although he does have experience with horses.
On June 8, Cody is back at the pool laughing at the gif of Britt climbing out of the pool that Brad made. He talks with Brad about the party until Britt shows up. Cody shows the gif to Britt and she argued with him about almost killing her.
On June 14, Cody argues with Zelda about not being paid the agreed amount for his stunt. When she leaves, he follows her to a Metro Court suite where Spinelli is also staying. Cody blackmails Spinelli for money and joins a poker game after learning the password. He is beaten up by Selina's bodyguard after ending the poker game early and losing her money. She takes his winnings and leaves him $50. Britt finds him in the alley and takes him to the hospital. He goes back to GH and finds out he has bruised ribs so he crashes on Dante's couch to recover. Cody later makes another arrangement for Spinelli to get Britt to try Society Setups again.
On July 5, Olivia finally meets the infamous Cody and he is interested in her job for overseer of the Quartermaine Stables. Sonny runs into Cody as he is wrapping up his business with Spinelli. Cody introduces himself to Sonny as Dante's old camping friend. After Cody leaves, Sonny is suspicious of why Cody was with Spinelli. Cody later accepts Olivia's job and points out to Britt that he isn't broke anymore. She isn't impressed as he is still accident-prone and uncouth. Cody ends up leaving his belt buckle at GH and Britt brings it to the Stables. Cody tries to convince her to go riding with him but she isn't interested.
Zelda calls Britt and convinces her to try Society Setups one more time. Cody is her match and Britt agrees to one date with him.
On July 19, Cody tells Dante about his crush on Britt while in the gym's steam room. Dante says Cody needs to grow up.
On July 20, Cody and Britt have a disastrous date at the Stables where he forces her to bond with Comet, says he wants kids and then clarifies he doesn't really want them when he sees how upset it made Britt due to her Huntington's diagnosis.
On August 10, it was revealed that Dominique Baldwin is Cody's mother. Cody says she rejected him and he lived with the Bell family as stablehands at Serenity.
On November 9, a DNA test reveals that Mac Scorpio is his biological father. Cody lies and states it's not a match, as he has a chance at inheriting a 35 million dollar necklace if he's the son of Leopold Taub.
On September 6, 2023, with the help of Sam McCall, Cody has himself committed to Ferncliff Asylum in order to rescue his friend, Sasha Gilmore from the clutches of her mother-in-law, Gladys Corbin and her doctor, Damon Montague.
On September 8, 2023, Cody and Sasha finally escaped Ferncliff, after Cody confronted Damon about his connections to Gladys and Selina, then he sucker-punched Damon in the face, took his clothes, and they headed to an SUV outside of the building provided by Sam.
On September 12, 2023, Cody leads a drugged and tired Sasha through the woods to a cabin Sam told him about. They head inside, and he sits her on the bed and turns some lights on. Cody tries to keep Sasha awake, but she screams at him to get away. She sees him and panics and screams, โPlease don't hurt me!โ Cody tells her that she's safe. Cody tells Sasha he's not Montague, and to look at him. She recognizes him, calms down, and asks where they are. He assures her they are safe, and explains what happened. He asks her to drink some water as she has to hydrate to deal with the withdrawals. She cries it hurts and this is too much, and she can't fight anymore. He tells her to do it for Brando and Liam. Sasha screams that Cody has no right to use their names, but Cody knows they'd want her to fight. Sasha cries every person she's loved is gone. She barely remembers her own mother, and only came to Port Charles to get money to help her grandmother. Now she doesn't know where she belongs and cries there is nothing left for her here. Cody states there are people here who love her, but she cries she has nobody left. He tells her, โYou have me.โ Sasha asks why he's here, why he hasn't left her. Cody says as long as she keeps fighting, he'll be beside her. Sasha says she stabbed him and yet he's still here. He knows that was the drugs. She asks where they are, and he says a place Sam found for them and explains it was Sam who helped him break her out. He tells her right now she needs to sleep and promises he will make sure nobody hurts her. Sasha eventually takes Cody's hand as he sits by her bed and falls asleep.
On September 13, 2023, at the cabin, Cody wakes up and panics when Sasha isn't in bed. He finds her outside taking in the fresh air. She has no idea how long she was at Ferncliff, but she remembers wishing she was outside. Sasha tells Cody how grateful she is to him. Cody asks how she's feeling. She's confused about what actually happened. Sasha says the doctors and nurses kept saying she was using, that someone was giving her drugs, but she wasn't. Cody believes her and reveals Dr. Montague was drugging her. Cody asks Sasha if she was on any medication during the Home & Heart segment. She says only her antidepressants, which her former doctor gave her. He asks what about after that? She admits she was taking pills Dr. Montague gave her. Sasha says Dr. Montague gave her a bottle of pills and told her to take three a day. She says that's when all the weirdness started. She says felt so full of energy, she couldn't keep track of things, and that's when the shoplifting incident happened. Sasha asks why Dr. Montague would do this. Cody believes he was being paid by Gladys.
On September 14, 2023, At the cabin, Sasha refuses to believe Cody that Gladys would do anything to hurt her. As they argue, a car pulls up. Sasha hides, and it turns out only to be Dante and Sam. Cody is surprised Dante is here, and Sam says he wants to help. Cody calls Sasha out from hiding, and they say it looks like she's doing better. Sasha says it's thanks to Cody. Cody tells Sasha how Sam helped them, and she asks why Sam would help do this for her. Sam says Cody was convinced she didn't belong in Ferncliff and never gave up on her. Cody wonders if Dante has come to arrest them. Dante says he's here to apologize to Cody for not believing him, and he's so very sorry to Sasha for what Gladys did to her. Sasha cries, โWhy would she do this? She says she loved her and they were family?โ. Sasha says Gladys is the only family she has left, so how she could betray her? Dante says Gladys is a weak person and she put herself in a difficult spot. Cody explains how he really knows Gladys through Selina's games, and she was using Sasha's money to pay her debts. Sam says Gladys had to stay in control of her finances to repay her debts, and Sasha realizes that's why Gladys tried to convince her that ending the guardianship was a mistake. Sasha cries that Cody tried to tell her about Gladys so many times, but she refused to listen. She asks what they'll do now that they are escaped fugitives. Sam says the four of them will figure this out.
On September 19, 2023, At the cabin, Sasha steps out of the bathroom after having cleaned up and thanks Sam and Dante for the change of clothes. They then order Cody to get into that shower next as he stinks. Cody soon returns showered and changed, and says he found a bottle of pills in one of Montague's pockets. Sam suspects Montague was going to tie up loose ends regarding Sasha. Sasha exclaims, โYou think he was going to kill me?โ Dante says he may have just wanted to sedate her and move her somewhere else. Cody indicates this shows he had a plan. Sam asks, โBut what it was, and how do we prove it?โ
They run down all the connections between Gladys and Montague, and Cody notes every gambler needs a steady cash flow. Sam suggests Gladys brought in Montague to help her keep control of Sasha's assets, but he pushed it too far. Dante says Montague may have had to make Sasha look insane and like an addict to cover his part in all this. Sam asks once again how they prove any of this.
Dante says Montague looks like the victim here, and Cody adds they are escaped patients. Dante tells Cody he's a felon, who is charged with kidnapping and assault. Sasha thinks they should turn themselves in and explain everything. Dante says they may have something going for them, as Mac is the acting commissioner and he'll see Cody is innocent. Dante and Cody reflect in their minds on the fact that Mac is Cody's father. Cody thinks they can't depend on Mac's goodwill. Sam suggests Sasha and Cody wait here, and she and Dante will dig around and be in touch tomorrow. Dante thanks them both for everything. Dante and Sam leave, and Sasha can't believe what they are willing to risk for them. Cody says it's for her, they all believe in her. Sasha hopes they find something. Cody says there is another option, they could disappear.
On September 20, 2023, At the cabin, Cody suggests to Sasha they could just run away. Sasha says they have a car and a bit of cash thanks to Sam, but no phones, and no IDs. They are also escaped mental patients who are considered dangerous. Sasha won't let him get himself in any deeper trouble for her. Cody says he's no hero, and things wouldn't have gotten this bad if he had been honest from the start. She asks how he's been dishonest. Cody admits he knew Gladys was in the red for months, and he knew about her selling Brando's garage to cover her debt. She asks why he didn't tell her. He tried to convince himself that she was in pain and so dependent on Gladys, but the truth is he didn't want to ruin his arrangement with Selina. He tells her he needed the cash, tending stables doesn't pay much, and soon Selina told him that he didn't have the option to quit or talk. He kept quiet, even when he knew Gladys was playing her.
Sasha tells him she remembers things differently, and he was always warning her not to trust Gladys and she didn't listen. Cody says he didn't tell her the whole truth, and he kept his mouth shut so as to not cross Selina. Sasha asks why he changed his mind. He admits it was looking into her eyes when she stabbed him, he knew she wasn't in her right mind, and that she had been set up. He couldn't live with himself if he didn't try to help her. Sasha thanks him, but he says they aren't out of the woods yet. Sasha is still thankful for the rescue, but more thankful that he believed in her.
Cody guesses they aren't going anywhere after all, and Sasha says they should wait for Dante and Sam and see what they find. He suggests she get to bed, but when she learns he's going to sleep in the chair again, she refuses to allow it. Later, Sasha finds Cody ended up bunking on the floor next to the bed.
On January 5, 2024, Cody reveals he's saving up to buy the estate he grew up on. It was terrible there but he wants to bring it full circle.
On July 8, Cody finally confessed to Mac that they're father and son, revealing that he lied about the test before.
On October 15, he learns that Serenity, the estate where he grew up, is on the market. Asking price is $6M, which he could never get his hands on. He dreamed of turning it into a ranch and animal sanctuary as it's always been a special place for him. Sasha thinks he should go for it, but he thinks it will be off the market in no time. He admits he had one idea: to ask Tracy for a loan. Sasha isn't sure she'd do it, but it can't hurt to ask as she does like him. He needs to devise a solid business plan and pitch it to her. Cody doesn't think he should, as he doesn't want her to think he's using her for her money. That would be what the old him would do. She says he'll have to find someone else to invest and tells him to look at it that way, as an investment. Later that day, Sasha approaches Michael about loaning money to Cody to buy Serenity and turn it into an animal sanctuary. Michael turns her down - stating that he would have given her the money no question if it was for her, but he doesn't know Cody well enough.
On December 20, After Sasha gets a call from Felicia, who says Mac and James are really sad about Cody. She wants to call him and ask him to come but hopes that wonโt make her uncomfortable. Sasha tells Felicia that Cody should be there and that sheโll handle this. Sasha calls Cody up to the house, claiming there was a leak. She admits she lied and that he deserves to go to the family Christmas. He doubts heโll be missed. She says she doesnโt know who will be more disappointed that heโs not coming, Mac or James. She wants him there too, and he deserves a family, so let them in. Later, the doorbell rings, and James answers, thinking itโs Annaโs surprise. However, itโs Cody who tells everyone, โMerry Christmas.โ
Following Cody's arrival at the Scorpio family Christmas gathering, the atmosphere warmed as he reconnected with Mac, Felicia, and young James. The family shared heartfelt conversations, exchanged gifts, and created new memories, reinforcing the bonds that had been strained.
