Dave Koz is an American musician, composer, record producer, and radio personality, who served as a Theme Music Composer for the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital, where he also appeared as himself 3 times.
Career[]
In 1992, while working on his second album, Dave Koz was invited by the producers of General Hospital to perform on the show. This opportunity arose after his song "Emily" from his self-titled album was featured on the show's soundtrack. Following his appearance, Wendy Riche, the executive producer, tasked Koz with composing a new theme song for the soap opera. Koz incorporated elements from Jack Urbont's "Autumn Breeze," the existing theme, into a fresh smooth jazz piece called "Faces of the Heart." This new theme premiered during the 30th anniversary episode of General Hospital on April 1, 1993, and it continued to be the show's theme until August 27, 2004, when music director R.C. Cates introduced a remixed opening theme.

- Dave Koz guest starred as himself on General Hospital in 1992, 1997 and 1998.
- "Faces of the Heart" ended up as the third track on Koz's "Lucky Man" album.
- R.C. Cates's modernization of the the title track "Autumn Breeze" incorporated numerous chord progressions similar to those found in "Faces of the Heart." As a result, when "Faces of the Heart" was replaced in 2004, Dave Koz continued to receive credit as one of the composers for the theme music of General Hospital until March 2012, at which point Cates was relieved of his duties as music director and the theme was subsequently changed.
