Dominic Messinger is an American musician, who served as music supervisor and Theme Music Composer for the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital. Furthermore, he made contributions as a composer for the spinoff series General Hospital: Night Shift.
Career[]
Messinger began his work in soap opera music on General Hospital, and has since composed for reality series and documentaries including Intervention, Brace for Impact, and for Nickelodeon's teen drama Hollywood Heights. He has won 14 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Messinger disclosed that he served as a ghostwriter for the composer of General Hospital during the 1980s but left due to conflicts with Gloria Monty, later making a return in the late 1990s. Additionally, he collaborated with R.C. Cates in co-composing music for GH from 1999 to 2012 and was involved in remixing the opening titles of GH, which debuted in 2004. Between 2007 and 2008, both he and R.C. Cates assumed the role of co-composers for General Hospital Night Shift. However, he departed from General Hospital once more in 2012.[1]
