On April 9, 2024, after months of anger and fighting, Drew Quartermaine (now single) and Nina Reeves (in the middle of a divorce) have a one-night-stand on the floor of his office at Aurora Media.
On April 22, Nina became single when she signed the papers and divorced Sonny Corinthos.
They continue their secret fling, calling it "hate sex" at first, but are outwardly getting close and friendly with each other.
On April 30, Nina admits to close friend and sister-in-law, Maxie Jones, that she and and Drew have been secretly sleeping together. Maxie is stunned and wonders what the goal is here for Nina, who doesn't know.
On May 3, Drew and Nina visit their local congressman, Larry McConkey. Drew is in search of political support and funding; he explains that the docks have been underutilized for years. He and Deputy Mayor Jordan Ashford are working to revitalize two piers to beautify Port Charles and create more public space.
McConkey reveals he is terminally ill, and Drew responds that this renewed waterfront could be his legacy project. The congressman believes in public projects, but states he won't be around to ensure proper use of the money, and asks Nina if he can trust this won't turn into a real-estate project.
Nina says Drew is a decorated veteran, dedicated to Port Charles, and he can be tough but fair. The Congressman says he'll need to see some figures and specs, but he'll do his best to put this through the house.
On June 11, Willow Corinthos admits to her husband, Michael Corinthos, that she's thinking of forgiving and letting her mother back into her life. She sees a change in her, and believes Drew (Michael's uncle) is the reason - not knowing they are sleeping together.
