Edward and Lila Quartermaine are former fictional characters and a married couple from the original ABC Daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
Edward was most notably portrayed by John Ingle and Lila was most notably portrayed by Anna Lee.

Their great-grandchildren include: Lila Rae Alcazar, Michael Alan Corinthos III, Jacob "Jake" Martin Webber, Daniel "Danny" Edward Morgan, Oscar Nero-Quartermaine, Emily Scout Quartermaine, Brook Lynn Quartermaine, and Leonardo "Leo" Francisco Quartermaine.
They have four great-great grandchildren: Giovanni "Gio" Palmieri, Wiley Alan Corinthos, Amelia Grace Corinthos, and Daisy Celeste Gilmore.
They are the patriarch and matriarch of the Quartermaine family.
Storylines[]
Edward Louis Quatermaine and his wife Lila Morgan showed up in Port Charles in 1978, and moved into the house that his son Alan had bought for his wife, Monica Bard.
For Edward, a big problem arrived in the form of Susan Moore and Crane Tolliver. Crane, Lila Morgan's first husband, had proof that Lila had never officially divorced him. This meant that Lila and Edward weren't legally married and Alan and Tracy were illegitimate. Edward's son Jimmy Lee Holt found the unsigned divorce papers, which were taken care of and Lila and Edward were married legally.
In 1989, When Edward disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle and was thought to be dead; Lila did not appear to be fazed as she preferred conversing with his portrait, which actually talked back to her. Lila was reunited with Edward in 1991, when their daughter Tracy discovered him playing beach bum in the Bahamas.
In the summer of 1999, Edward tried to keep a long lost family secret from being found out by Luke Spencer and Felicia Cummings (who was writing Lila's memoirs). Despite Edward and Reginald Jennings' efforts, Luke and Felicia discovered what they thought was the truth: Edward had killed Lila's fiancé, Elliot, and married her in his place. Edward initially denied it, and then told them they were right. But Lila refused to let her husband take the blame and revealed the truth: she had killed Elliot. When Elliot found out Edward had been romancing her while writing letters under Elliot's name, he tried to force himself on Lila, and she hit him in the head with a fireplace poker. He died and the crime was covered up by the family. Luke and Felicia agreed to keep the murder a secret.
One evening in July of 2004, Lila told Edward that she loved him before going to bed. She then died peacefully in her sleep. After a heart wrenching goodbye, Edward faced life alone. Heather Webber, who had recently returned to town, married Edward in the hopes that he would be the heir to Lila's fortune. In the end, Justus Ward was the heir, and Heather tried to kill Edward. Luke & Skye Chandler-Quartermaine caught on to her plan and with Edward's help set Heather up. She went crazy and Edward had the marriage annulled and her shipped off to Ferncliff Asylum. Christmas 2004 was particularly tough for Edward as it was his first without Lila. Alan, Monica, Tracy, Justus, & Audrey Hardy comforted him during this difficult time.
A few days before Jason Morgan and Sam McCall's wedding, Edward visits Jason and gives him Lila's wedding ring to give to Sam. He and Monica later attend the wedding, only to learn that they eloped the night before. At the reception, Edward's fortune cookie reads, "Love is an "L" word," implying Lila. On Christmas Eve, Edward tells Monica and Tracy that the year Lila died, she was planning on getting him monogrammed cuff links. Tracy sends Alice Gunderson to the jewelry store to pick up a pair, but the store closes before Alice can get there. When Edward opens a present left for him under the tree, he finds a pair of monogrammed cuff links.
In November 2012, Monica informs Tracy that Edward's health is in decline, and that he will likely not be with them much longer. A devastated Tracy refuses to allow a recently returned A.J. Quartermaine to see Edward, but permits his son Michael Corinthos and Sam to say their goodbyes. Sam is able to introduce Edward to her son, Danny Morgan, and reveals to him that Jason is Danny's biological father, much to Monica's surprise. As Sam promises to raise her son well, Edward weakly reaches his hand out, and Danny grabs his finger, delighting Sam, Michael, and Monica. Tracy eventually comes around, and allows A.J. to say his goodbyes to Edward, but he passes away before he has the opportunity to do so. A devastated A.J., who had wanted desperately to apologize for his past failings, sobs uncontrollably on Edward's chest. Monica was with Edward in his final moments as he uttered his final word, "Lila." Edward was later reunited with Lila and the two walked together up the stairs of the Quartermaine mansion.
On April 1, 2014, A.J. dies and Edward returns alongside the ghosts of Lila, Emily Quartermaine, and Alan. They then escort him into heaven as Monica watches on.
On May 1, 2019, the ghosts of Lila and Edward come back to escort Oscar Nero-Quartermaine after he dies due to an inoperable brain tumor.

- In 2004, during Lila's funeral, flashbacks were shown featuring both David Lewis as Edward and John Ingle. This occurrence was unusual, given that Jed Allan was portraying the character at that time, and it is typically uncommon to display flashbacks of previous actors in a role while a new actor is actively playing that character.
- Portraits of Edward and Lila Quartermaine now adorn the Quartermaine mansion, with a photograph of Lila prominently placed in the living room, her former sitting room. Moreover, the mansion boasts a collection of family photographs, including images of former characters such as Justus Ward, A.J., Emily and Alan Quartermaine. However, it is the portraits of Edward and Lila that are most prominently displayed.
