Storylines

Seen at first as an unapproachable doctor in charge of the interns, she was shown to have a heart at times.

In late 1997, Dr. Karen Wexler's landlady and Ellen's mother, Alice Morgan had a heart attack. Alice and Ellen's brother Winston had stopped speaking to Ellen when she married a much older man, but he had died only a few years into their marriage. After her mother's health scare, Ellen worked on repairing her relationships with them. Ellen began a relationship with Dr. Matt Harmon, which Dr. Chris Ramsey exposed and caused her removal from her charge of the interns.

Ellen revealed to Lucy Coe, that the most romantic night of her life was with a mysterious stranger in New Orleans named Sebastian Dupree. He was determined to put break up Ellen and Matt. Ellen didn't love him, but she pitied him. They had sex, and he died a few days later. She continued her relationship with Matt, but after Chris exposed her one night stand with Sebastian, he cut her out of his life. Around this time, Dr. Rachel Locke arrived at the hospital. Ellen recognized her, but she wasn't sure from where. To keep her quiet, Rachel arranged for Ellen to get an amazing job out of town. Ellen didn't want to leave, but rather patch things up with Matt. But everyone thought she'd left for the job. Matt tried to contact her in San Francisco, but he couldn't find her. Her friend Dr. Kevin Collins also tried to find her, as they both had a past with Rachel, but she had vanished, and Ellen was soon forgotten.
