Emily Matthews-Morgan was a fictional character on ABC daytime, soap opera General Hospital.

She is the late daughter of former mob enforcer Jason Morgan and his ex-wife, the late Courtney Matthews.

Storylines

Emily Matthews-Morgan parents, Courtney and Jason

In the early summer of 2003, Courtney fainted while in the courtroom awaiting news from Jason Morgan's trial. Everyone rushed to her side, while her brother Sonny Corinthos helped her up and out of the courtroom. When she gets home, she is met by her supposedly deceased husband A.J. Quartermaine. Brandishing a gun at him, she demands answers as to why he faked his death - and he flees.

The next day Courtney took a pregnancy test and discovers that she's pregnant with estranged husband, Jason's child. She decides to keep it a secret as she was still legally married to his brother A.J. at the time.

Courtney kept the pregnancy from Jason as she planned on leaving him. Jason finds Courtney's wedding rings on the docks and is heartbroken.

A pregnant Courtney was attempting to flee town when she comes across the new villain in town, mob boss Lorenzo Alcazar. Courtney is taken hostage by Lorenzo and held hostage on his yacht in place of Carly, who had been rescued by Sonny and Jason. To escape, she jumps overboard during a storm into freezing waters and swims to shore.

She overexerted herself and wakes up in a hospital room. Jason finds her before Alcazar has the chance to track her down and take her again.

On August 20, 2003, Courtney has a dream about a baby girl. She is thrilled to see Jason Morgan holding their baby "daughter." She wakes up and is heartbroken to learn she suffered a miscarriage. Meanwhile, Lorenzo shows up at the hospital to finish Courtney off and is stopped by Jason.

The next day Courtney has a nightmare about their baby "girl" where she realizes there is no baby in Jason's arms. She wakes up and hugs Jason in her grief and shock.

After weeks of Courtney keeping the pregnancy and miscarriage a secret from Jason, she finally confesses to him. Jason is heartbroken but forgives Courtney. They go to Rice Park to mourn their child together in peace.

After Jason and Courtney had a fight, Jason visits his sister Emily Quartermaine and they talked about baby names. Emily wanted Jason and Courtney to name their daughter after her.

When Jason thought Emily was dying, he decided to name his daughter in her honor. Emily Matthews-Morgan's cousin, Scout Quartermaine also shares the first name Emily. She was born in February of 2017 and named to honor Jason's sister Emily.

In 2004, when Courtney found out Sam McCall was pregnant, she expressed her regret at being careless while pregnant with Emily. She advises Sam, telling her nothing is more important than her child and she needs to think like a mother always and put the well-being of her child first.

On February 21, 2006, Courtney dies at the age of 23 from Encephalitis, the day after giving birth to her younger maternal half-brother Spencer Cassadine on February 20, 2006. Spencer was a miracle child, as doctors told Courtney she was infertile after she miscarried Emily.
