An "trusting" environment? (2007)

As a result of Sam McCall's actions for saving many of the residents of Port Charles at the Metro Court Hotel during its hostage crisis, producer Amelia Joffe courted her to host a new show called Everyday Heroes.

Sam was flattered but initially reluctant. Amelia was persistent and finally convinced Sam to give it a try. What Sam didn't realize was that Amelia was the daughter of the late Bill Monroe, one of the men Sam had married and conned the fortune from before his death.

Amelia was out for revenge. She was convinced that Sam, at the time using the alias "Angela Monroe", had murdered Bill when he'd realized that she was about to steal his fortune. The truth was that Sam had killed Bill Monroe in self-defense. "Angela" had been arrested and tried for the crime but in the end had been acquitted. Amelia was not satisfied with the verdict and intended to expose Sam for the fraud that she was.

It was revealed that Bill was abusive towards "Angela" during their marriage. He found out she was a con artist trapping wealthy men into marriage in order to steal their fortunes. He turned violent and threw Sam across the room, beating her to the ground. Sam found a shotgun in the cabinet, while Bill brandished a fireplace poker. Sam ended up shooting and killing him in self-defense.

After this revelation, the show is cancelled and Amelia leaves town.
