The Metro Court is one of the local hotels in the city of Port Charles. It is owned by Nina Reeves, and Olivia Quartermaine, who was the former operations manager.
The hotel regularly hosts holiday parties, weddings, and events, such as the annual Nurses' Ball charity.
The hotel boasts a number of sister properties, such as the Bella Maison in Montreal. Additionally, it has affiliated hotels in Paris, various locations throughout Europe, and in Hawaii. It competes directly with the Cosmopolitan hotel.
History[]
The hotel was constructed following the destruction of the previous Port Charles Hotel, which burned down in February 2004. Jasper "Jax" Jacks, purchased the property and renamed it the Metro Court, in tribute to his then-fiancรฉe, Courtney Matthews.
In March 2005, Sonny Corinthos ordered a hit on the Sandoval mob organization, many of whom were staying at the Metro Court. A shootout ensued at the restaurant, with Jax, Courtney, and Rachel Adair caught in the crossfire. Rachel was shot, whereas Jax and Courtney escaped without injury.
Following Courtney's passing in February 2006, Carly Spencer became Jax's partner at Metro Court.
In May 2006, a shooting incident took place when Manny Ruiz tried to shoot Jason Morgan on a terrace but accidentally struck Sam McCall instead.
In February 2007, the hotel lobby was taken hostage during the Metro Court Hostage Crisis, orchestrated by Jax's brother, Jerry Jacks, who went by the alias "James Craig." Jerry subjected the hostages to deadly games, resulting in Alan Quartermaine's death. Robin Scorpio was shot in the stomach and underwent surgery by Emily Quartermaine and Carly Spencer. Max Giambetti received a shoulder wound, and Father Mateo Ruiz was shot for killing a mercenary. Following the crisis, the hotel lobby, which had exploded, was rebuilt.
In November 2009, upon learning that Claudia Zacchara had hired Ian Devlin to assassinate him, Sonny Corinthos decided to take matters into his own hands. He organized an extravagant birthday celebration for Claudia at the Metro Court Restaurant, where he publicly revealed that the bullet intended for him had instead put his son, Michael Corinthos, into a year-long coma. In a panic for her safety, Claudia took Carly, who was pregnant at the time, hostage at gunpoint in an attempt to flee. Eventually, Claudia was located and killed by Michael.
In February 2012, following Jax's departure, Connie Falconeri notifies Carly that he has bequeathed his portion of the hotel to her, much to Carly's chagrin. Later in the year, Todd Manning acquired Connie Falconeri's shares, and the Metro Court became the headquarters for Manning Enterprises. Todd also operated a tabloid named The Sun, which briefly hired Heather Webber as a gossip columnist. Upon Todd's exit in 2013, Manning Enterprises was dissolved, and Connie regained her ownership of Metro Court.
The hotel has become the venue for the Nurses' Ball, which made its comeback in 2013 after a twelve-year hiatus.
In June 2013, Olivia Quartermaine was shot on the terrace by Ava Jerome, who intended to kill Franco Baldwin. A few months later, Connie Falconeri was murdered in her office by Ava, who left her initials written in blood. Following Connie's death, Olivia inherited her cousin's rights to Metro Court and swiftly evicted mob boss and Crimson editor Julian Jerome. Less than a month afterward, Sonny Corinthos leased the office for his mob and coffee business.
In December 2014, the Metro Court Restaurant underwent renovations, receiving new paint and furniture. Olivia confirmed that Carly finalized the details. On New Year's Eve, Carly offered an amnesiac Drew Cain a temporary position as a bartender.
Immediately following the 2015 Nurses' Ball, Olivia goes into labor at the hotel, prompting Patrick Drake and Sam McCall to deliver her and Julian Jerome's son, Leo.
In December 2015, Kiki Jerome started working as a waitress at the Metro Court Restaurant. Nelle Benson was employed as Carly's personal assistant in September 2016, but was swiftly dismissed when her ulterior motives came to light.
In January 2017, Nathan West and Maxie Jones held their wedding at the Metro Court Restaurant. Then, in July of the same year, the venue hosted the wedding of Ned and Olivia Quartermaine.
In October 2017, Jason Morgan returns to Port Charles after a five-year captivity. Concurrently, Drew Cain (mistaken for Jason Morgan) and Sam McCall celebrate their Aurora Media launch at the Metro Court Restaurant. During the event, three of Jason's former captors infiltrate the hotel, with two disguised as staff. Their identities exposed, the duo tries to seize control of the restaurant, resulting in Elizabeth Webber's injury. Drew, Sonny Corinthos, and Dante Falconeri ultimately overpower the men. As Drew escorts Elizabeth to the hospital, Jason reaches the Metro Court rooftop just in time to witness Sam's drugging and abduction by the third captor. Jason springs into action, crashing through the skylight to reveal himself and attempt a rescue.
In February 2018, Lulu Spencer published an article in the Port Charles Press revealing Nathan West as Cesar Faison's son, prompting Faison's return to Port Charles. He kidnapped Lulu and Liesl Obrecht, then confronted his other son, Peter August, at Metro Court, holding Peter and Maxie Jones at gunpoint. Peter, wearing a bulletproof vest, was shot but unharmed. Nathan, unprotected, was shot in the chest by Faison during a rescue attempt. Faison tried to flee, taking Carly Spencer hostage, but was stopped by Jason Morgan, who shot him. Subsequently, both Nathan and Faison died at General Hospital.
In October 2018, the hotel was the venue for the Port Charles International Film Festival, utilizing its multiple screening rooms. Griffin Munro and Kiki Jerome chose this event for their first official date as a couple.
In December 2018, documentary filmmaker Peyton Mills began a project on the Ryan Chamberlain murders from 25 years prior. Mills uncovered evidence suggesting Ryan might have survived the fire long ago, leading Ryan to permanently silence him and dispose of his body at the Metro Court Restaurant during the New Year's Eve party. In January 2019, Lulu Spencer found out that Ryan Chamberlain was still alive. Ryan attacked her in her office at The Invader. During a brief struggle, Ryan, temporarily blinded by a virus, failed to stop Lulu from escaping to safety.
In an effort to support Michael Corinthos and Drew Cain in their aim to consolidate Aurora Media with ELQ, Carly divested her Metro Court shares and invested in Stillwater Venture Group. However, following the board's rejection of the ELQ and Aurora merger, the stock plummeted, leading to Carly's financial loss and inability to repurchase her hotel shares. Drew approached Nina Reeves to buy Carly's hotel shares, which Nina initially declined but eventually agreed to, completing the purchase. Nina offered to return the Metro Court to Carly, who declined and left the hotel, resulting in Nina becoming the new co-owner of Metro Court in July 2022.Businesses[]
The offices of the fashion magazine Crimson are located in the Metro Court. Initially managed by Connie Falconeri, Crimson was later overseen by Julian Jerome. In 2015, shortly after departing from the mob, Julian returned to Metro Court to establish a new venture, Derek Wells Media. Nina Reeves took over as the new editor of Crimson. In 2024, Carly briefly held the editor position when Drew fired Nina, but Carly quit and Nina agreed to return.
The company Corinthos Coffee, owned by Sonny Corinthos, had its office located in the Metro Court from 2014 to 2016.
In 2017, Julian sold Derek Wells Media to his daughter, Sam McCall, and her then-husband, Drew Cain, who renamed it Aurora Media. After Sam and Drew divorced, Sam stepped down, and Drew subsequently sold a 50% stake to Jasper Jacks. Jacks sold his rights back to Drew in 2022.
In August 2018, Peter August acquired The Invader, a multi-news aggregator located on the 7th floor of the Metro Court. After Peter's death, Shawn Butler assumed ownership of the publication and later designated Alexis Davis as the editor-in-chief. Later, in 2024, Valentin Cassadine bought the newspaper from Shawn and appointed Nina Reeves as the publisher after her dismissal from Crimson by Drew. She returned to the fashion magazine to prevent its failure under Drew's management.
In 2020, Lucy Coe and Sasha Gilmore partnered to relaunch Deception Cosmetics, opening an office in the Metro Court. Maxie Jones left Crimson to join their venture, and Valentin Cassadine became the primary financier. After a law suit over a popular "stolen" spa device they marketed, Lucy reluctantly signed 51% to Tracy Quartermaine in 2023. By 2024, they brought Cody Bell on as another model, but Lucy's mismanagement led to him and Sasha both quitting the company.
