The Ashfords are a fictional family on the American soap opera General Hospital. They are best known for their investigating prowess and serving the public.

Background

In January 2012, T.J. Ashford hitchhiked from Baltimore to Port Charles, breaking into Kelly's diner for food. Shawn Butler, who lived above the diner, was surprised to find his godson there after hours. Although happy to see T.J., Shawn was reminded by him that Shawn had killed Tommy Ashford, believed to be T.J.'s father. Faced with an ultimatum from his mother, Jordan Ashford, to either live with Shawn or attend military school, T.J. chose to move to Port Charles. Shawn welcomed him and enrolled him in the same high school as Molly Lansing-Davis, and soon, they started a relationship.

In March 2014, Jordan arrived in Port Charles to retrieve T.J., who was initially pleased to see her until he discovered her intentions. Despite his objections to leaving Molly and his new life, Jordan decided to stay in town to reconnect with T.J. Eventually, Jordan and Shawn revealed to T.J. their past affair and the truth about Tommy's death, which was in self-defense. This revelation led T.J. to question Shawn's loyalty and consider the possibility that Shawn might be his biological father.

In May 2015, Jordan was exposed as an undercover agent for the D.E.A. and the Port Charles Police Department. She arrested Shawn for attempting to execute a hit on "Jake Doe". Post-arrest, she revealed to Shawn that he was T.J.'s father and offered him freedom in exchange for testifying against Sonny Corinthos. Shawn refused to betray Sonny, pleaded guilty, and was sent to Pentonville Penitentiary.

In early December 2015, Curtis Ashford, Tommy Ashford's younger brother, came to Port Charles. T.J. and Molly secured a small apartment in the Charles Street district, and T.J. started interning at General Hospital during medical school.

Jordan and Curtis's relationship began, later complicated by the arrival of Curtis's aunt, Stella Henry. In November 2018, Curtis and Jordan married. They separated officially in February 2021 and initiated divorce proceedings. However, after Stella confiscated the divorce papers and suffered a stroke at Kelly's, the papers were destroyed. Unbeknownst to Curtis and Jordan, they remained legally married for months.

In 2021, Curtis purchased a nightclub and named it The Savoy. Shortly after its opening, Curtis's father, Marshall Ashford, whom everyone presumed dead, arrives in town and reveals he faked his death. Stella and Curtis's mother, Irene Ashford, were aware of Marshall's plan to fake a heart attack to convince his sons of his demise. Curtis, feeling betrayed by Marshall's abandonment, wanted nothing to do with him. Marshall, however, insisted he left not by choice but by necessity, having been misdiagnosed with schizophrenia 40 years prior and institutionalized.

Molly declined T.J.'s marriage proposal, opting instead for a civil partnership in 2021. T.J. completed medical school and joined GH as a doctor.

Curtis, after separating from Jordan, started dating Dr. Portia Robinson. They had a past relationship, which ended when Portia disclosed her marriage to Curtis. They married in February 2023, and it was later revealed that Curtis is the biological father of Portia's daughter, Trina Robinson.

In 2023, Molly and T.J. anticipated their first child via a surrogate, but faced the heartbreak of a miscarriage. Resolute, they decided to try again with Molly's sister, Kristina Corinthos-Davis, as the surrogate and egg donor. On January 24, 2024, they received the joyful news that Kristina is pregnant following a successful IVF procedure.
