The Webbers are a fictional middle class family on the American soap opera General Hospital.
Background[]
In 1976, Jeffrey "Jeff" Webber arrived in Port Charles, fresh from medical school, and quickly joined the staff at General Hospital. His sister Terri Webber and their brother, thought deceased Richard "Rick" Webber followed him, both joining the hospital staff. Terri left after a year to pursue a music career. Rick fell in love with and married Dr. Lesley Sullivan in 1977, adopting her daughter Laura Vining and later a son, Michael "Mike" Webber. They also took in Laura's sister Amy Vining, creating a stable family unit at the Webber House for many years.
Jeff's affair with Heather Grant resulted in a son, Steven "Steve" Lars Webber. After marrying Heather, Jeff had to commit her to a mental institution following an LSD overdose. He later gained custody of Steven and left Port Charles in 1982. Off-screen, Jeff married a woman named Carolyn after divorcing Heather. Heather stayed in town for another year after her release from the asylum before leaving.
Rick became a single father in 1984 when Lesley was presumed dead in a car accident. He found love again with Ginny Blake and moved to Omaha with Mike and their new son, Rick Webber, Jr., in 1986.
In 1996, it was revealed that Lesley was alive, having been held captive by the Cassadines. Luke and Laura rescued her, and she returned to Port Charles, becoming a grandmother to Prince Nikolas Mikail Stavrosovich Cassadine, Lucas "Lucky" Lorenzo Spencer, Jr., and Lesley-Lu "Lulu" Spencer.
In 1997, Jeff, alongside his new wife Carolyn, journeyed to Sarajevo to aid in the war effort. Consequently, he sent his teenage daughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Imogene Webber, to live with their 'grandmother' Nurse Audrey Hardy. Sarah pursued a career in medicine and has since moved to California after leaving and returning to town twice. Elizabeth, on the other hand, settled in Port Charles and was primarily raised by Audrey.
Over a decade later, Rick returned in 2002 to walk Laura down the aisle at her re-wedding to Luke Spencer. However, a tragic mishap led to Rick's accidental death at the hands of Scott Baldwin, which precipitated Laura's nervous breakdown, resulting in her seven-year commitment to Shadybrook Sanitarium.
In 2003, Elizabeth wed Ric Lansing, but following a one-night stand with Zander Smith, she found herself pregnant and later gave birth to her first son, Cameron Steven Webber. Zander, acknowledging the perils of his lifestyle, consented to Ric and Elizabeth raising Cameron. He was later fatally shot. Elizabeth, after a brief reconciliation and remarriage to Ric, divorced him due to his fixation on his brother Sonny Corinthos, leaving her to raise Cameron alone and prompting her to take up nursing at General Hospital.
The following year, Elizabeth's brother Steve Webber returned to Port Charles and took up a medical position at GH. His mother, Heather Webber, also came back, surprising and arousing Lesley's suspicions. Heather's mental instability became apparent, leading to her recommitment. Steve eventually departed to oversee a trauma unit in Memphis, Tennessee.
Love & acceptance (2023)
In 2005, Elizabeth finally married her longtime love, Lucky Spencer, who adopted her son Cameron. The following year, after discovering Lucky's affair, Elizabeth had a one-night stand with Jason Morgan, resulting in pregnancy. Following her divorce from Lucky, she gave birth to her second son, Jacob "Jake" Martin Webber. Recognizing that Jason's mob life precluded him from raising their son, Lucky adopted Jake and reconciled with Elizabeth.
In 2008, Laura permanently overcame her catatonia and, having reconciled with her family, left for continued treatment in Paris, France. The following year, Lesley, wishing to remain near her daughter, also left Port Charles and relocated. She has since settled in Italy but still makes trips to visit Laura in Port Charles.
In 2010, Steve returned as the Chief of Staff at General Hospital. Elizabeth had her third son with Lucky, Aiden Webber, although Nikolas was initially believed to be Aiden's father. In 2011, tragedy struck when Jake was presumed dead after a hit-and-run at the age of four, leaving Elizabeth overwhelmed with guilt.
Laura's daughter Lulu married her boyfriend of two and a half years, Dante Falconeri, on December 23, 2011. They welcomed their son Rocco Falconeri a few years later. Lulu later learned she had a daughter, Charlotte Honor Cassadine, with Valentin Cassadine, conceived via IVF and born in 2009.
In 2012, Heather tried to reconnect with Steve (whom she always refers to as "Steven Lars"), claiming rehabilitation. Released from Ferncliff Asylum, she soon revealed her ongoing instability and was re-institutionalized. She has since escaped multiple times and has been confined in various facilities, including Shadybrook Sanitarium, D'archam Asylum, and Pentonville Penitentiary. In 2013, Steve was imprisoned in Tennessee for the merciful killing of a suffering patient.
In 2015, the Spencers and Webbers rejoiced when Jake was found alive after being kidnapped by Helena Cassadine. Elizabeth now juggles raising her three sons, Cameron, Jake, and Aiden, with her responsibilities as the head nurse at GH.
In 2016, a revelation surfaced that Jeff had an affair with Naomi Dreyfus in 1981, resulting in the birth of his youngest daughter, Hayden Barnes. Both Jeff and Hayden were oblivious to their relationship, while Heather had known and used this secret to blackmail Naomi for years. Later, it was revealed that Hayden and her former fiancé, Hamilton Finn, have a daughter named Violet Finn.
On February 14, 2019, Valentine's Day, Elizabeth wed her three-year boyfriend, Franco Baldwin. Tragically, Franco was killed in a struggle with the villainous Peter August in March 2021. Following Franco's death, Elizabeth chose to retain the Baldwin surname.
In late 2022, Elizabeth began uncovering fragments of repressed memories that impacted her life, compelling her to confront her long-absent parents in Monterey, California for answers. Upon reuniting, Jeff and Carolyn revealed the unsettling truth: Jeff had an affair with Reiko Finn, the deceased wife of Elizabeth's current boyfriend, Hamilton Finn, and Elizabeth had accidentally caused Reiko to fall down a flight of stairs. Jeff sedated Elizabeth, and Carolyn used her hypnosis skills to erase the memory before abandoning her with neighbors in Colorado. Feeling betrayed, Elizabeth resented her parents for never checking on her despite her many hardships and decided to return home. Jeff later arrived in Port Charles after 40 years, seeking reconciliation at the hospital, but Elizabeth refused to speak with him and urged him to return to Carolyn. Before departing town, Carolyn warned Elizabeth that Nikolas Cassadine was holding Esme Prince captive.

Following a one-night stand with Esme, his son Spencer's then-girlfriend, Nikolas Cassadine fathers a second son, Ace Niklosovich Prince-Cassadine, born in February 2023. When Nikolas is sentenced to prison for Esme's captivity, Kevin and Laura Collins choose to adopt Ace.
