Lesley Williams arrived in Port Charles in 1972 and began work as a cardiologist at General Hospital. Lesley's first patient was a woman named Florence Grey.
Florence was suffering from stomach ulcers that she thought were brought on from the stress of her failing marriage with Gordon Grey.
Florence was then sent to hospital psychiatrist Dr. Peter Taylor, and told him about her husband's affair years earlier with a student in his class. Gordon got the girl pregnant and the child presumably died shortly after birth.
When Peter told Lesley about Florence and her history, Lesley realized she was that very student. Gordon Grey then returned and confessed his love to Lesley and was willing to leave his wife. However Lesley convinced him to stay with Florence and they left town soon after.
On December 9, it was revealed that Martin Grey is Cyrus' brother and that their mom is Florence Grey, who has fallen very ill. Cyrus has been sending her money to pay for her medical bills and expenses. Curtis uploaded Florence’s medical records to a medical supply company and discovered they only ship to one facility in Vermont. He prepares to visit Florence there with Laura Collins.
On December 15, Curtis checks Laura in as a comatose patient at Mountain Landing. He uses the front desk computer and discovers Florence is checked in under cardiology as a patient in Room #2. The following day, Laura sneaks out of her own room to sneak into Florence's. She is shown to be alive and asleep in that room. Suddenly someone starts opening the door.
Laura hides in the bathroom and Martin comes in. Laura reveals she was hiding and Martin confirms to her that Florence and Gordon are his parents which makes Laura his half-sister. Gordon was not faithful to Florence but they stayed married until he died years ago. Laura had heard that Florence also died years ago. Martin said that Florence created that rumor. Laura also finds out that Cyrus is Martin’s brother when he also walks into the room.
Cyrus claims he accidentally hit his father with his car when he was young and Gordon died. His mother threw Cyrus out of the house and he went to the West Coast.
On December 30, Florence is transferred to a safehouse and is being held hostage by Bobbie Spencer under her daughter Carly Corinthos’ orders. Carly had Jason take the blame for the kidnapping and did it to protect her family from Cyrus as Sonny is assumed to be dead.
On February 5, 2021, Martin receives a burner phone and talks to Florence. He later thanks Carly and Jason Morgan for letting him speak to his mother and says he will back off during Sonny’s funeral.
On February 25, Martin and Jackie track down his mother to Vermont, where they find the facility holding his mother. They run into Jason instead. After a small confrontation, Bobbie and Jason allow them to see Florence. His mother is ecstatic to see him, and glad Cyrus isn't with him. Jackie asks her to give her the details and turns on an audio recorder afterwards.
On March 26, Martin tells Laura that his mother was moved again. He doesn’t know where she currently is and doesn’t want to know.
On April 20, Nikolas locates Florence with the help of a man named Colonel Jackson. Carly warns her guard that their location was discovered. Bobbie and Florence hide in a panic room. Nikolas forces Carly to surrender Florence to Colonel Jackson and his men so no one is hurt.
Later Cyrus tells Martin that their mother is coming home.
On April 28, Cyrus tells Laura that his mother is in a new care facility.
On June 10, Martin reveals he found Florence and allows a detained Cyrus to talk to her.
