Gregory Chase is a fictional character on the ABC Soap opera General Hospital.
The role was originated by James Read.
Casting
On May 31, 2018 sources confirmed that Days Of Our Lives alum James Read would join the cast as Gregory Chase, the father of Hamilton Finn and Harrison Chase. He made his first appearance on June 6, 2018.
On September 13, 2018 Soaps.com confirmed that Read would return to GH as Gregory Chase during the week of September 17. He returned on September 21, 2018 and departed on October 10, 2018.
Background
Gregory Chase is the father of both Hamilton Finn and Harrison Chase. He is more estranged from Finn than he is with Chase because Finn is upset with him for moving on and remarrying too quickly after his mom died. Gregory and his new wife had a son and named him Harrison Chase.
In 2018 Finn and Chase reunited but Finn wanted nothing to do with him at first due to having a problem with their dad. Although Finn softened towards Chase and began a brotherly relationship with him, he still held a grudge against Gregory.
Storylines
On June 6, 2018 Finn had accompanied Anna Devane to Berkeley, California and as Finn was in a coffee shop his estranged father Gregory Chase went in and Finn was surprised to see him. Gregory attempted to see how he was doing and he tried to make amends and reconcile with Finn who wanted nothing to do with him. He was upset with Gregory for moving on and remarrying too fast after his mom died.
On September 21, 2018 Gregory came to Port Charles and he had met with Finn, Anna, and Chase at the Metro Court. He eventually revealed he was sick and he needed treatment for whatever he had. Despite Finn's reservations, he agreed to treat his dad.
On October 10, 2018 after several tests were ran Gregory found out from Finn that he had PTLDS (Post Treatment Lime Disease Syndrome) but was confused since his Lime Disease test came back negative. Finn explained that the first test for Lime Disease often comes back as a false negative and he also said that PTLDS reoccurs after the lime disease treatment. Gregory was upset and saddened that Finn ignored his plea to reconcile with him and stop hating his stepmother. Finn explained some stuff he can do to help him recover and Gregory pointed out he and his stepmom are the same and would make a great team. Finn got him discharged and he went back to Berkeley.
