Nurse Iris Fairchild, RN is a fictional character in the ABC daytime drama General Hospital.
She was played by Peggy McCay from 1967 to 1970 with an unknown actress temporarily filling in for her.
Storylines[]
In 1967, Meg Baldwin was an old nursing school friend of Iris Fairchild who arrived in Port Charles. Meg’s husband Lee was counseling people and tried to cure Iris of her drinking problem. Lee’s brother, Tom Baldwin was in love with Nurse Jessie Brewer but became engaged to Iris.
Lee and Meg separated when she was jealous of them spending all their time together and accused Iris of having an affair with Lee. Iris had been working for Lee as his legal secretary at the time. Lee and Meg briefly separated, and Lee has a short affair with Iris while she was still engaged to Tom. Lee got back together with Meg after he donated his kidney to save the life of Meg’s son, Scotty. After the affair ended, Iris went back to being a nurse at the hospital.
