Jack Slater is a fictional character in the ABC daytime drama General Hospital.
He was played by Randall England in 1984 and 1985.
Storylines
In November 1984, Mariah walks in with Jack Slater who is wearing red boots that Luke previously described to Laura. Jack poses as a movie producer and Laura is suspicious of him. She thinks he is part of a gang who is after Felicia. She catches him in a phone call regarding locating Felicia and rips the phone cord out of the wall. He is locked in a closet and breaks out. Then he ties up Laura and Mariah. Later Laura knocks him out.
Jack uses the alias Matt Hines and meets Vann Addams, a loan shark who was one of Sean’s men. Frisco and Felicia see Vann coming out of Jack’s room. Vann is later found dead and he is identified as the man who was stalking Felicia. Sean yells at Jack for killing Vann.
In 1985 in Sean’s villa, one of Sean’s men, Sam Morgan, is nervous about moving the Aztec treasure from an ex-WSB spy ship but Jack says everything is set. Sean and another henchman named Saura are worried Jack and Sam will leave with the treasure.
Jack catches Peter Harrell trying to break into Bay C where the treasure is being held. Jack throws a knife in Peter’s back and Peter calls Felicia for help. Felicia contacts Dr. Tony Jones who hears an injured Peter mention Felicia’s treasure, Donely, and Port Charles. Jack sees Tony and shoots him. Tony is taken to the park hospital and is in a coma after surgery.
Later Sean wants to know what happened but Sam can’t find Jack. When Jack shows up later, he tells Sean everything. When Sean hears that Peter is in Rio, he plans go chase after him. Jack wants to kill Tony but Sean believes Tony will die soon. Jack gets Felicia to say that Tony is improving. After Sean leaves, Jack makes a plan with Sam and Saura to kill Tony.
Sam and Saura lace coffee with poison and take it to PCU. Jack will pretend to be sick and will be admitted to GH. He will then let Sam and Saura into the hospital basement. Robert finds the loose window that Jack planned to use.
Sam and Saura put smoke in the GH vents and accidentally turn off the power. Robert is in Tony’s room and figures out because of the smoke that someone is after Tony. Jack throws a knife at a dummy that Robert replaced Tony with. Robert sees the same red boots that Jack is wearing. After Sean returns, he is furious after Sam and Saura explain what went wrong. Jack claims he killed Tony. Sean tells Jack that Tony is alive and to stay away from him. He also tells Jack to dump the red boots and he eventually does.
Jack overhears Sean give Sam the combination to a safe and then tell Sam to stay away from fence Anna Devane. Jack steals some money and part of the Hapsburg jewels from inside the safe. These jewels have been missing for over a century. Sean accuses Sam of stealing the jewels but finds out Anna was Jack’s fence.
Sam tells Sean he met with Anna who seemed to always be one step ahead of him. She claims she doesn’t know where the jewels are. Saura remembers Jack’s locker at the PC Hotel. Sean and Sam barely beat Robert to the locker. Sean removes an incriminating gun and later Robert tells Sean about Jack and the possibility of the treasure existing.
Jack tells Anna that Sean has the rest of the jewels. She pays him $100,000 for the jewels he stole. Sam tells Sean that Jack was seen hanging out in bars and the jewels have not been found. Sean thinks Anna bought the jewels.
Later Sam calls Sean from Panama and says Jack may have the treasure but Grant Andrews had the treasure moved to The Brownstone basement. It was then taken to two train cars to transport it out of town.
In June 1985, Prescott Harrell enters a message into the WSB computer that Jack was killed in a barroom brawl in Panama. Jack still wants to kill Tony but Robert tackles Jack before he can shoot Tony. Jack runs away and Sean tells him to freeze. Jack shoots and Sean returns his fire and kills Jack. It is later revealed that Sean only fired once but two bullets were found in Jack’s body. The second bullet belonged to Prescott.
