History

On September 14, 2022, Carly Spencer's flight to Aruba is rerouted due to thunderstorms and lands in a Jacksonville Airport. When all flights are canceled, she gets a room at a local hotel. While reading a book in the hotel's bar, she meets Peyton Honeycutt who she knew as Peyton Roberts growing up with Peyton's daughter Charlotte Roberts. Peyton sees a man named Joshua Clark who is with a young woman who isn't his wife. She suspects the woman is a prostitute. Peyton is upset when she finds out who Carly is as Carly slept with Peyton's first husband Dan Roberts. Carly said she was 16 at the time and Dan was in his 40's but Peyton tells Carly to leave town and walks out of the bar.

On September 20, Carly returns to the hotel and confronts Peyton after finding out Virginia Benson's grave is going to be dug up at the Jacksonville Cemetery. Carly points out that all the good people buried at Briarcliff are being left alone. Peyton says Briarcliff is not blocking beach access and the Jacksonville Beautification Guild did everything according to the bylaws. This wouldn't be a surprise if Carly had visited Virginia Benson in the last ten years. She tells Carly to head to Aruba and not come back. Carly says she is going to stay and fight for her mother.

On September 27, Drew Quartermaine comes to Carly's hotel room and offers to help her with his Aurora Media connections when she explains the situation. She offers to let him sleep on the couch in her room instead of finding another hotel and he accepts her invitation.
