Jake Meyer and Nurse Bobbie Spencer are fictional characters and a divorced couple from the original ABC Daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
Jake was portrayed by Sam Behrens and Bobbie was portrayed by Jacklyn Zeman.
Storylines[]
In 1985, Nurse Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer lawyer Jacob "Jake" Meyer. By 1986 they were married and purchased a Brownstone on Elm Street and began assembling tenants for their new home. Among them were Frisco and Felicia Jones, Tony and Tania Jones, Terry Brock, and brothers Kevin and Patrick O'Connor. The building also housed a law office in the basement, which Jake used for his work.
Soon after, a man named Neil Johnson was found murdered in the Brownstone, with a sleepwalking Terry standing over him with a knife. The murder sent shockwaves through Port Charles, with the identity of the Brownstone killer remaining a mystery. Neil was revealed to be a cousin of Kevin and Patrick. The strangled body of Neil's uncle, Earl Moody, was also discovered, prompting a suspicious Bobbie and Jake to investigate Terry. Jake later uncovered that Kevin was the murderer who had framed Terry, intending to marry and kill her for her money. In a final confrontation, Terry killed Kevin by pushing him off a cliff.
Jake had a one night stand with Lucy Coe, became pregnant. Lucy and Jake would come to an agreement to allow Bobbie and Jake to raise the baby, but Lucy had a miscarriage. During her recovery from a stab wound, Bobbie met a woman named Martha McKee. Martha had to move to Colorado, so she allowed Bobbie and Jake to raise her two children; Melissa and Skeeter McKee. The teenage daughter Melissa was rebellious, she hung out with a the wrong crowd and got involved in prostitution. Bobbie flew to Miami where she posed as a call girl to disclose the pimp's activities, but Bobbie was arrested after calling the police. Her ex Scott Baldwin bailed her out of jail and her children were taken away. Jake left Bobbie soon after.
In December 1987, Jake and Bobbie where denied being able to adopt a child. He got an opportunity to help victims of an earthquake in Ecuador. He urges Bobbie to go with him so they can start over. She didn't want to leave. On New Year's Eve 1988, he leaves town.
He sent letters and made calls, trying to get her to move down, but the recently returned Scott Baldwin made sure it didn't happen, he wanted to move in on her.
He was later spotted in a picture with another woman, and Bobbie believes he's moved on and files for divorce.
