Kai Taylor and Trina Robinson are fictional characters and a popular couple on the ABC daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
Storyline[]
Grooving at the Nurses' Ball (2025)
On November 12, while at lunch at the Port Charles Surf Lodge with his friend and fellow student Quinn, new PCU quarterback, Kai Taylor is ran into by Trina Robinson when she accidentally spills drinks on him, in a meet cute. Quinn, though he was leaving, is attracted to Trina and decides to stay.
Josslyn Jacks recognizes him and gives Trina his background - who realizes he is her missing art class partner. She storms over to him and reads him the riot act for ignoring her many attempts to reach out to him and his absence affecting her grade. He attempts to make the excuse that his tutor signed him up for classes that would give him an easy passing grade, and the university makes sure he passes.
Trina is not impressed, walking away and telling Joss she's going to request a new partner. On his part, Kai feels guilty for how his actions are affecting her, and reaches out to his tutor to see if he can fix it.
Kai encountered Trina one day at Volonino's Gym. When she asked why he was working out there instead of the luxurious private gym for athletes, he said he came to try to make things right with her. Trina was still angry, told him not to bother trying and stormed out.
Days later Kai appeared at Trina and Josslyn's apartment on the Quartermaine estate and asked her to give him another chance. She said she has a tough schedule and doesn't want to carry a partner who doesn't prioritize academics Although she was difficult to persuade at first, he invited her to a PCU football home game so that she can see his work ethic firsthand.
Unbeknownst to Trina, Kai had already stayed up late that morning doing initial research for their project to atone for affecting her grade.
Later that same day they met at Bobbie's. After apologizing for arriving 10 minutes late, they sat down to get started. Kai told Trina to check her email and she discovered that he researched a list of books to help their research, and emailed her the list before he got to her apartment.
They talked about shared insomnia, and Kai teased Trina lightly about using a spiral bound datebook and using the library to get their books for research. They laugh it off and say goodnight amicably.
Trina brought Kai Taylor to the Chuck in winter 2024 to show him one of her favorite works there, a painting that seems to be done in the style of Jackson Pollock.
Kai and Trina attended their first Nurses' Ball together in 2025. Kai surprised Trina on the red carpet after she initially thought he wouldn't be able to attend because of his recent surgery. Trina performed a duet with Josslyn to the song I'll Be With You during the ball. She serenaded and sang to Kai in the audience as she performed. After the Nurses' Ball, Trina and Kai return to her apartment. Her aunt Stella left some celebratory champagne for them, which they shared together. Then, they expressed to each other how much they mean to one another, which led to them making love for the first time.
