Karen Harris is a writer, who served as Scriptwriter and Co-Head Writer for the ABC soap opera General Hospital and Co-Head Writer, Head Writer, and Associate Head Writer for its spinoff Port Charles.
Biography[]
Karen Harris penned television pilots for Spelling Television and Universal Pictures from 1979 to 1987. She also held positions at Sony Pictures Television, Lorimar Television from 1988 to 1989, and Columbia Pictures from 1989 to 1990, contributing to A Peaceable Kingdom. During her tenure at Universal, Harris served in various roles including Writer, Producer, Supervising Producer, and Executive Producer on The Incredible Hulk.
Harris joined the writing team of General Hospital in August 1993, rising to the position of co-head writer with Robert Guza, Jr. in 1996, and later with Richard Culliton until December 12, 1996.
She took on the role of Head Writer for Port Charles from February to November 2000, collaborating with Barbara Bloom and Jonathan Estrin from June to November 9, 2000. Following her promotion to Associate Head Writer, Harris continued as a scriptwriter for the series until its conclusion in 2003.
Harris had a brief tenure as a scriptwriter on All My Children from February 4, 2004, to February 24, 2005. She later rejoined General Hospital as a scriptwriter on April 8, 2005, and remained with the show until February 8, 2011.
