Kimberly McCullough is a American actress and director best known for the portrayal of Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake on the ABC soap opera General Hospital.
McCullough started playing Robin at the age of 7, in 1985. She stayed there until 2001, returned in 2004 and 2005 and left again in February 2012 making a few appearances in late 2012.
She also starred in General Hospital: Night Shift in 2007 and 2008, a spin-off from the hit soap. She returned to General Hospital in September 2013 on a recurring basis.
Biography[]
Kimberly was born in Bellflower, CA. She has two older brothers. At a young age, she started dancing with the help of her mother. At the age of 7 months, she started acting and has since.
After failing to get a role on Webster, Kimberly at the age of 7 tried out for Robin Scorpio, the daughter of super-couple Anna Devane and Robert Scorpio. She got the role and was fastly a huge hit. In 1989, at the age of 11, she won her first Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Juvenile Female in a Drama Series". Her most famous storyline was in 1995, when she contracted HIV from her boyfriend Stone. Stone later died, but Robin stayed alive.
For this storyline she won another Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Younger Leading Actress in a Drama Series". In 1996, she left the show for college to study film directing at New York University, while "Robin" went to Yale to study medicine. She still played Robin during college breaks. (Christmas, Summer, Thanksgiving, etc...) After returning for a little in 1998, 2001, 2004, and even the other ABC Soap "All My Children", in 2005 she was upgraded to contract on GH for "Robin". She left again in Febuary 2012
She is close friends with fellow GH stars, Finola Hughes, Jason Thompson and Kirsten Storms.
She directed a movie called "Nice Guys Finish Last", which starred fellow GH cast mate Lexi Ainsworth.
From 2002-2008, she had a recurring role as Deena, a car thief and small time criminal that had frequent run-ins with the LAPD on the FX Drama "The Shield"
In a blog post, McCullough revealed that she was pregnant some time in 2015 but miscarried her daughter at 22 weeks.[1][2] On December 22, 2016, McCullough announced that she is expecting again via her blog.[3] On March 7, 2017, McCullough announced that she is having a boy via her blog.[4] On June 7, 2017, McCullough announced via Twitter that she had given birth to her son, Otis.[5][6]
