Maggie Fitzgerald was Esme Prince's nanny after the sudden death of her adoptive parents. When Esme went to boarding school in Europe and met Spencer Cassadine, she told him she lost touch with Maggie.

On April 13, 2022 at Wyndemere Castle, Esme told Nikolas Cassadine that her birth parents were dead and her adoptive parents unexpectedly died in a tragic way. She had been adopted as an infant and felt that her birth parents threw her away. Nikolas asked about her adopted brothers and sisters. Esme says they were never close after her adoptive parents died. She was taken care of by her nanny Maggie who was the only person who cared about her.
Esme explains that when she was sent to boarding school, Maggie got another job and slowly lost touch with her. Nikolas said that his son, Spencer Cassadine must have never met Maggie. Esme confirmed and said that they would have liked each other. Maggie never knew that Esme found someone to love her, however briefly.
Later Esme pulls out a letter written to her at boarding school from her nanny Maggie Fitzgerald who lives in London. Maggie says she is surprised to hear that Esme is going to the United States with Spencer. She hopes he gives Esme all the happiness she deserves. But she wonders if being in New York is wise as no good can come from any contact with Esme's father. She warns Esme to be careful.
On May 9, Esme reads another letter from Maggie about being glad to hear that Esme is winning prizes and making a big circle of friends. She says it sounds like Esme's life in Port Charles is a big success. Maggie is also pleased to hear that Esme and Spencer are happy and closer than ever. She tells Esme not to let Spencer go and is glad to hear Esme is not pursuing a relationship with her biologicalfather.
Esme holds the letter close to her heart and a tear falls down her face. She goes into a closet to put the letter into one of the many Cartullo Couture shoe boxes. She finishes reading the letter. Maggie tells her that Esme is smart and industrious. She should use those gifts for good and continue to focus on school and Spencer. And most of all she should be happy. Esme says out loud that Maggie doesn't need to worry as she intends to be happy. Esme seals the letter in a manila envelope and puts it at the bottom of a pile of letters in one of the shoe boxes.
Later Spencer sneaks around Wyndemere looking for evidence against Esme as Cameron Webber distracts her at Kelly's. Spencer discovers a shoe box from three years ago and is suspicious that Esme would keep anything not in season. He opens it and finds the letters and a pill bottle. He pockets one pill and takes the box to the bed after Cameron texts him a warning about Esme.
Spencer reads about Maggie's warning to Esme regarding her father and later questions Esme about when she walks in on him with the letter. Spencer tells Esme that she said she hadn't spoken with Maggie for a long time but these letters proved otherwise.
On May 16, Spencer searches on Spyder-Finder for "Maggie Fitzgerald, London" when he is interrupted by Esme.
On May 17, Spencer confides in his cousinSam McCall about the pill he found which was probably used to drug Trina Robinson. He also tells Sam about Maggie and Sam says she will look into her.
On May 27, Esme wrote another letter to Maggie in which she said that Maggie's worry had been misplaced and that everything in Port Charles was going well. Even though Esme didn't have everything she wanted yet, she was well on her way. Esme's writing is interrupted when she hears Spencer arriving and she hides the letter in a cabinet.
On June 9, Sam meets with Carly Spencer at the Metro Court Restaurant to update her on her research into Esme. Sam tells Carly about Maggie and says she trying to locate her but has only found out Maggie lived in London so far. Sam says a source gave her this information but she doesn't reveal it was Spencer.
On July 28, Esme goes to the cabinet and pulls a letter out of a book hidden inside. She puts the letter in a manila envelope and sticks it in her suitcase which she tries to close as Ava Jerome comes in. They argue and later Ava notice the envelope on the ground with part of the letter visible. It starts by saying that Esme has been so busy that she hasn't had time to write Maggie. Ava grabs the envelope and Esme snatches it out of Ava's hands. They fight on the parapet and Esme falls over the side with the envelope.
On January 13, 2023, Spencer tells his great-auntAlexis Davis that there is someone else important to Esme. Maggie is very devoted to Esmeโฆmaybe even enough to kill for her. Spencer says last he heard Maggie is living in London but her daughter Sam could tell Alexis more. He explains that he asked Sam to find Maggie but he never followed up after Trina was exonerated.
Spencer tells Alexis that in a letter Maggie warned Esme about having any contact with her birthfather. Alexis says that Spencer told her Esme didn't have any family. He says Esme claimed Maggie knew who her biological parents were but never told her. Alexis thanks Spencer and asks him to let her know if he hears anything else.
On January 23, Sam meets with an amnesiac Esme at Spring Ridge Prison and asks her about Maggie. Esme doesn't remember her and Sam promises to help her find Maggie. Heather Webber overhears the conversation about Esme's nanny Maggie and Sam explains that Maggie knows who Esme's father is.
Storylines[]
In February, Dante Falconeri and Sam McCall stay at a B&B in Devon, England while searching for Maggie Fitzgerald. They had heard that she left London and they investigate in a local pub. The barmaid (Maggie) gets them a couple of beers and they ask her about Maggie as Esme Prince is looking for her. Maggie claims that no one by that name has come there but a Marjorie used to come in. After Maggie contradicts herself, Dante and Sam tell her where they are staying and leave. They suspect that Maggie is lying as she pulls out a box full of Esme's letters while muttering that Esme shouldn't have talked about her father. Sam talks to Mrs. Bletchly, the owner of the B&B and figures out the barmaid is Maggie while Dante goes back to the pub and runs into Maggie as she tries to leave town.
On February 17, 2023, Dante and Sam are shocked when Maggie reveals that Ryan Chamberlain is Esme's father, as one of his victim's, Connie Cooper's brooch was pinned to the blanket that swaddled the newborn Esme when she was given to the nuns for adoption. Maggie and Esme were able to trace it back to Connie, and then to Ryan.
On January 25, 2024, Chase finds a letter from Maggie who is in Toronto as nanny for another family. She wants Esme to visit her.
