Masks have been used by multiple characters in soap operas.

Examples of Masks on General Hospital[]

In 2012, after seeing a brochure for a facility in Switzerland. Anna Devane and Luke Spencer go there to look for Robin Scorpio. They don't find her, but on August 27, a man who looks like Duke Lavery with his old face is revealed to be alive, and to have been the one who removed Robin from the Swiss facility.

Later "Duke" cannot distinguish from false and correct information when talking to Robin who realizes that the man is not Duke Lavery. The person with the face, and apparently the fingerprints, of Duke Lavery starts to take off a Duke mask. Robin is shocked at at his true identity. The man that has been running around as Duke is actually Cesar Faison. The "real" Duke, however, is also revealed to be alive. The "real" Duke is being held prisoner by Faison in the Swiss mental institution as well.

On December 12, Anna and "Duke" kiss and "Duke" asks if they should go into the bedroom. John McBain and Robert Scorpio are at the door and "Duke" answers. Robert and John tell Anna about their visit to the medical facility. While Robert is arguing with Anna and "Duke", John decides to turn up the heat in the room. Robert/John points out that "Duke" is the only one that is not sweating and they come up with the idea that Faison could be using a mask to masquerade as Duke. "Duke" has no patient for this and decides to walk out, but Robert decides to pour hot fondue on "Duke". The mask comes off in pieces and Anna sees Faison unmasked.

In 2013, Cesar Faison is sent to Steinmauer Prison. Liesl Obrecht tells Cesar about their "grandson" and he agrees to let her break him out of Steinmauer, so he could go and meet him. On their way out they run into Anna Devane. Obrecht (disguised in an Anna mask) and Anna get into a physical struggle until Anna gets the upper hand and knocks Obrecht unconscious.

In 2014, Faison, pretending to be the fake Luke Spencer, showed up at Julian Jerome's place and planned to kill him for his betrayal. Anna and Dante Falconeri show up to arrest Julian and arrested Faison. Anna removed the Luke mask and was stunned to see it was Faison.

In 2023, Eileen Ashby is convinced by Laura Collins to identify Anna's corpse in the morgue. Anna was faking her death and arranged for a hologram of herself to appear to Eileen and trick her into thinking she is a ghost. Anna had been haunting Eileen for weeks. She gets Eileen to confess she set up Anna for Lucy Coe's shooting. Suddenly the corpse of Anna sits up and pulls off her mask as it was Felicia Scorpio. Anna comes in the room and Eileen agrees to help them take down Victor Cassadine.
