Mexico is a real country in North America, in which a fictionalized version is shown on General Hospital and featured in several storylines.

Storylines

In 1972, after Dr. Tom Baldwin returned to town to reclaim his son Tommy and force Audrey March to resume their marriage. Having become tyrannical, Tom kidnapped Tommy and fled to Mexico. Months later, the baby was returned to Audrey by his babysitter, who claimed Tom died in Mexico. Years later, it was revealed that Tom was alive, having been imprisoned in Mexico for a murder he did not commit.

In 1984, the renowned supercouple Luke Spencer and Laura Webber are residing in Mexico after departing from Port Charles the previous year. During their time there, Luke encounters Sean Donely and reunites with several residents of Port Charles for an adventurous quest. This group includes Frisco Jones, Felicia Cummings, Anna Devane, Robert Scorpio, and Holly Sutton, all of whom are in pursuit of the Aztec treasure. Frisco and Felicia later return in 1985 to continue their search for the treasure.

In 2004, Corinthos mob soldier, Diego Sanchez, found some mysterious letters, and he, Brook Lynn Quartermaine, her uncle Dillon Quartermaine, and his girlfriend Georgie Jones went to Mexico to confront his sister Maria. She warned Diego to stay out of Port Charles.

They returned to PC, with Diego convinced Sonny Corinthos was his father. His true paternity was revealed when Dillon pieced together clues by realizing that Maria's necklace was the same design as Lorenzo Alcazar's corporate logo - Lorenzo and Maria were once lovers. She however, had a drug problem that Lorenzo wanted nothing to do with. Maria claimed to be clean, but a suspicious Lorenzo followed her to an alley where he was shot by his enemies. Maria was scared that he would think she set him up, so she fled. After leaving Lorenzo, she found she was pregnant. Maria raised Diego for the first ten years of his life, telling him she was his sister to protect him from Lorenzo. When Maria was deported back to Mexico, she put Diego into foster care, which brought him to Port Charles.

In the summer of 2008, Lucky Spencer and Sam McCall traveled to Mexico in search of his father, Luke Spencer.

In 2009, siblings Michael Corinthos and Kristina Corinthos-Davis work at a Cancun resort and are chased by Jerry Jacks who was sent by Claudia Zacchara. Jason Morgan and Sam McCall look for Michael and Kristina but Jerry kidnaps Sam and takes her to an abandoned church. Jason rescues her and the kids. Sam and Jason also reconnect romantically in Mexico after a near two-year separation.

In January 2016, the fugitive Larry Ashton shows up at the Mexican hotel where his ex-wife Tracy Quartermaine is staying. Shortly after, Dr. Hamilton Finn discovered Tracy had worms in her brain from eating food there. They caused seizures which led to brain surgery.

On December 1, 2020, Curtis Ashford and Jordan Ashford go to a medical supply company in Mexico City. Curtis posed as a Chief Logistics Officer for a medical supply start-up and Jordan as his assistant. Speaking in Spanish, he convinces them to give him a tour.

Jordan uses the distraction to download Cyrus Renault's file from the clinic computer which gives them data on the medicine they found at the Astoria house. Jordan tells Curtis that the person in the house has the last name Grey. On December 2, Curtis reveals that the patient is Florence Grey.

In 2023, the villainous nanny Betty Rutherford is sent to Mexico after it is discovered the Pikeman information she stole is false.
