Law partners - Diane and Alexis
In early 2010, Alexis and Diane partnered up and merged both of their individual practices to create Mason, Petrovich, & Miller.
The law firm operates out of Port Charles, New York, where their main offices are located, but they have partners all over the tri-state area. Theo Hoffman was a previous New York partner before it was discovered that he was actually an international crime lord named the Balkan.
In November 2010, former federal prosecutor Claire Walsh partnered up with Alexis and Diane and temporarily joined their firm. Diane retains her main clients, Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan at the firm. In early 2011, Claire along with Theo, represented Brenda Barrett and Dante Falconeri, on behalf of the firm, when they were brought up on murder charges.
While Diane and Alexis do partner at the firm, their cases sometimes conflict. For example, in the Josslyn Jacks custody battle, Diane represented Carly Spencer, and Alexis represented Jasper Jacks. This caused some trouble in the case until Alexis decided to step down as Jax's attorney. In late 2011, Diane decided to make some changes in her life and chose to leave the law firm in favor of being a gossip columnist. She worked briefly for the Port Charles Press.
When Diane was fired by Todd Manning in 2012, she returned to her law work and now works independently as a personal attorney for dozens of Port Charles citizens leaving the current status of Mason, Petrovich & Miller unknown.
Another conflict of interest between Alexis and Diane occurred in 2013 when Dante Falconeri and Lulu Spencer and Damian Spinelli and Maxie Jones started a custody battle over Georgie Spinelli. Alexis represented Dante and Lulu, while Diane represented Maxie and Spinelli. The custody battle ended with Spinelli receiving full custody. Diane also represented Maxie in 2014 when she met with a judge to see if she could get visitation rights with her daughter reinstated.
In 2018, Diane represented Jason and Alexis represented her daughter, Sam McCall, in the couple's divorce. Diane mentioned that it was nice to be sparring with Alexis again.
As of 2020, Alexis' license to practice law was revoked after she was caught lying under oath at a medical board hearing.
On June 19, 2024, Alexis receives an official letter with a ruling from the Court of Appeals: Her disbarment has been vacated! But she is still under a two year suspensionโฆ that started four years ago. It's over, but she'll have to reapply to the bar.
On June 26, Alexis tells her family that she is no longer disbarred and will soon be reinstated and partnered with Diane at in her law firm.
Following Sam's funeral on November 20, Alexis and Molly dig through the firms files and find Sam's will. It is several years old, and they are both surprised that she named Drew Cain as Danny Morgan and Scout Quartermaine's guardian.
On April 2, 2025, Jason shows up at the law office to see Diane. He needs to amend his will to provide for Sasha Corbin's baby. Diane asks who else knows the truth about Michael and this baby. Jason says no one, he hasn't even told Carly, especially given she's with Jack Brennan. Diane notes Carly has made bad decisions for decades, but he's always trusted her, so what has changed? Jason says the WSB is a world he doesn't know and can't provide Carly with the level of protection he's used to.
Later that day, Marco Rios arrives in town for an interview with Diane. Diane is impressed with his credentials and it seems promising that he would get the position. Before leaving, Marco sees a photo of Lucas Jones with his late sister, Sam on Alexis' desk and takes an interest in the photo.
On April 16, Diane brings Marco to the Corinthos House to introduced her newest associate to the firms biggest client - Sonny Corinthos. Diane is stunned when Sonny reveals that Marco's father is Jenz Sidwell. When Marco admits it's true, Diane sends him outside and immediately assures Sonny that she'll fire him. Sonny instead convinces her to keep on the new associate, so they can have a close eye on Sidwell.
Unfortunately, Alexis is not convinced and they hold off on their offer to Marco Rios by April 21, 2025.
On April 24, they invite Marco back to the office. Willing to finalize their offer to him, Diane says they think he is a great attorney and Don't want to hold his family against him. But they need assurances that working with his father won't conflict with representing Jason and Sonny. Marco assures them it won't and they welcome him aboard.
