Brook Lynn developed a crush on Dante and in the summer of 2002, their feelings became mutual.
As a teen, Dante would get into a lot of trouble and started hanging with the wrong crowd, so Olivia sent him away to summer camp each summer since he was 14 to help straighten out his behavior. In their last year of summer camp, Dante and his best friend Cody Bell went to Camp Cooper for boys and Brook Lynn went to the neighboring Camp Martha for girls. All three were camp counselors in training at the time, however Brook Lynn admitted to not being very good at counselor training. That summer, Dante and Brook Lynn had a fling and became lovers at camp.
During the summer at camp, Brook Lynn started to feel home sick, so Dante would sneak over to her room after lights out for the night and they would talk. One night, Dante and Brook Lynn got carried away and had unprotected sex. After that, they wanted to spend all of their time together, so Cody would cover for them while they snuck off to be together. Later, Brook Lynn left camp suddenly after discovering she was pregnant. Desperate, she confided in Cody about her pregnancy and swore him to secrecy. He then gave her some money and a ride to the bus station. The only other person she told was her mother Lois.
Lois and Brook Lynn agreed that she was too young to be a mother and they decided to put the baby up for adoption without ever telling her father, Ned Quartermaine, Dante or his family about the pregnancy. Brook Lynn went on tour with her mother and Miguel Morez to hide the pregnancy. She carried to full term and gave birth to their son, Gio Palmieri without any complications after 12 hours of labor. Afterward, Lois arranged for a private family adoption with her cousin Camila Palmieri. The year after Gio's birth, Brook Lynn went to live with her father, Ned, in Port Charles.
Dante and Brook Lynn became step-siblings, several years after their romantic connection, when his mother Olivia, married Brook Lynn's father Ned in 2017.
In 2025, the truth about their son Gio comes out to everyone at the The Nurses' Ball. Gio is shocked at the truth and pushes his parents and family away thinking none of them wanted him. Meanwhile, Brook Lynn and Dante struggle to come to terms with being lied to by those closest to them and watching their son grow up in the neighborhood without even knowing it. Dante and Brook Lynn's long friendship also became strained by the lie about Gio, with Dante feeling betrayed that Brook Lynn never told him she was pregnant.
