Flynn's Club
One Night at Flynn's Club was to a special stand-alone episode of General Hospital which aired on December 31, 2002, in which several cast members portrayed different characters from the 1920s. Portions of the episode were aired in black and white.
The plot involved Carly Spencer and Ric Lansing discovering an old speakeasy on New Year's Eve, bricked off in the basement of Kelly's Diner while they were scouting for a location for her club. Catherine Flynn, the club's former owner, now an elderly woman living in an apartment across the street, told Carly and Ric the club's history when she observed them breaking through the brick wall.
Storyline[]
Ric and Carly break down the brick wall in Kelly's cellar, only to discover a speakeasy frozen in time at one minute past midnight. An elderly woman named Catherine suddenly appears and recounts to Carly the story of her club's opening night.
A woman named Violet Flynn urges her fiancé to elope with her that evening, however Rummy Joe reminds her that mobster Marco Flynn would not approve of them abandoning Catherine's grand opening of the club. Later, a man named Murphy and his men crash the party, taunting Marco and angering Joe. Joe and Violet decide to marry after midnight. Marco bribes the mayor to prevent the club's closure. At midnight, Murphy's men return and spray the club with machine gun fire, causing everyone to hit the floor. Joe leaps to save Marco and is killed in a hail of bullets. A grief-stricken Violet suffers a nervous breakdown. Marco kills Murphy and dies in prison. Amidst the tragedies, Catherine is forced to give up her son and explains how she closed the club for good.
