Oscar Nero was a fictional character on the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital. He was the son of former Navy SEAL, Chief Drew Cain and his former lover, Dr. Kim Nero.
The role was originated by Rio Mangini, who portrayed Oscar for two episodes on June 23 and 26, 2017.[5]
Due to Mangini joining the cast of the Netflix comedy Everything Sucks, the role was recast with Andi Mack actor Garren Stitt, who debuted a week later on July 7.[6][7][8]
Stitt was announced to be departing from General Hospital in May 2019.
Background
He was conceived during a brief relationship his parents had in San Diego while his father was in the Navy.
Kim found out she was pregnant shortly after Drew was deployed and didn't think he would've welcomed a child with a woman he barely knew, so she decided not to tell him, although she did try to contact the Navy. However, her attempts to contact the Navy were initially unsuccessful, due to the fact that she was not a family member.
A couple of years later, when Kim did manage to get in contact with the Navy, she learned of Drew's "desertion." In reality, Drew had actually been kidnapped in an elaborate plot spearheaded by Cesar Faison and involving many of Port Charles' most notorious villains.
He is close with his father's family, the Quartermaine and has begun to get close with his uncle Jason. He trusts Jason with matters of his will if he dies.
In December 2018, it was revealed that Oscar was conceived on New Years Eve 2001 and was born in October 2002.
On April 29, 2019 (shown on May 1, 2019), Oscar died in his sleep.
