− | Edward Louis Quartermaine was the patriarch of the family until his death in 2012, and his wife Lila Morgan Quartermaine was the matriarch until her death in 2004. |
||
+ | In 1977, Dr. Alan James Quartermaine arrived in Port Charles to fund the new cardiac wing at General Hospital. Shortly after beginning his tenure at GH, Alan captivated Dr. Monica Bard. As their relationship grew, Alan chose to remain at GH post-completion of the wing to be close to Monica. With Alan establishing roots in Port Charles, his parents, Edward and Lila Quartermaine moved there too, and the Quartermaine family business, ELQ, set up its main office in the town. Alan and Monica married on March 7, 1978, and Alan purchased what is now known as the Quartermaine Mansion as a wedding present for Monica. She often claims ownership of the house, to which others commonly respond, "Alan gave it to her," reminding everyone that it was indeed a gift from Alan. |
||
− | The family came to Port Charles in 1977 when their son Alan decided to stay at GH as a physician and bought what is now known as the Quartermaine Mansion for his new wife Monica as a wedding present (the mansion would not see a redesign until 2019). She has ever since drilled it into everyone's head whenever the opportunity presents itself that she is the owner of the house, which is usually followed by a reiteration that Alan gave it to her. |
||
− | Edward |
+ | Edward Louis Quartermaine son of George and Ida Quartermaine and grandson of Edgar and Martha Quartermaine, was the family patriarch until his death in 2012. His wife, Lila Morgan Quartermaine, was the matriarch until her demise in 2004. They had two children: Alan, who passed away in 2007, and Tracy Angelica Quartermaine. Edward also had an illegitimate son, Jimmy Lee Holt, with Beatrice LeSeur, who has passed away. Additionally, in 1994, it came to light that Edward had fathered another son, Bradley Ward, with Mary Mae Ward, his mistress during World War II; Bradley was murdered in 1974. |

+ | The Quartermaines are an eccentric and dysfunctional family, famous for their humorous quarrels. Whenever the Quartermaine mansion brimmed with family members, it was a certainty that arguments would ensue. The feud between Monica and Tracy often sparked conflict in the home. Additionally, Tracy's jealousy over Edward favoring Alan as his preferred child frequently stirred tension. |
− | The family |
+ | The family-owned enterprise, ELQ International, named after Edward Louis Quartermaine, has been at the heart of numerous familial conflicts. Corporate takeovers, orchestrated by family members competing for control of ELQ, have frequently resulted in divided loyalties among the Quartermaines. A notable struggle for the helm of ELQ arose between Tracy and her nephew, Alan James "A.J." Quartermaine, Jr., following Edward's death in 2012. |

− | Aside from being successful business people, the Quartermaine family is also known for their work at General Hospital. Several family members have become successful doctors, others sit on the GH board of directors, and the family has made several sizable monetary donations to contribute to the growth of the hospital. |
||
+ | In addition to their success in business, the Quartermaine family is renowned for their contributions to General Hospital. Both Alan and Monica have served as chief of staff, and their daughter Emily Bowen Quartermaine was a successful doctor. Other family members hold positions on the GH board of directors, and the family has made significant monetary donations to support the hospital's expansion. |
||
− | + | Thanksgiving holds a unique place in the hearts of the Quartermaine family. Each year, they make an effort to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but it invariably ends up being disrupted, leading to their customary pizza order. This pivot to pizza on Thanksgiving started in 1994 when their family dog, Annabelle, devoured the feast. Additionally, singing "We Gather Together" before the meal has become a cherished ritual. In 2012, following Edward's passing just before Thanksgiving, the remaining Quartermaines united to celebrate the holiday in his memory. |
|
− | + | Several Quartermaines have honored Edward and Lila by naming their children after them. Tracy's eldest son is named Edward "Ned" Lawrence Quartermaine, after his grandfather, while Jason Morgan and his ex-wife Sam McCall named their son Daniel "Danny" Edward Morgan, also in tribute to his great-grandfather. Antoinette "Skye" Chandler-Quartermaine named her daughter Lila Rae Alcazar after her great-grandmother Lila Morgan-Quartermaine, and Sam also named her daughter Lila McCall in her honor. |

Ned bestowed Lila's engagement ring upon wife Olivia Falconeri. In 2020, Michael Corinthos presented Willow Tait with one of his great-grandmother Lila's rings as they prepared for marriage. |
+ | Several staff members of the Quartermaines have become like family. The Quartermaines' former housekeeper, Stella Fields, served the family loyally from 1979 until 1988, when she won the lottery and resigned from her position. Jennings, who was initially a gardener, was promoted to butler by Monica and served from 1984 until his retirement in 1992. Subsequently, Jennings' nephew, Reginald, took over the role until he departed for a world cruise in 2004. Alice Gunderson, a professional wrestler turned maid, joined the staff in 2001 and quickly became part of the family. She reportedly retired in late 2014 after receiving a heart transplant. |

+ | Alan Quartermaine, the first of his family in Port Charles, became a doctor at General Hospital in 1977. He married Monica Webber, a fellow doctor, and they had a son, Alan Jr. (A.J.). During his marriage, Alan had an affair with Susan Moore, resulting in twin sons, Jason and Andrew. Following Susan's demise, Alan gained custody of Jason, whom Monica adopted. Andrew, however, was raised in secrecy by Betsy Frank and later became a Navy SEAL. |

− | In 1995, while Monica was going through cancer treatments, she met Paige Bowen, who had a daughter named Emily. Paige and Monica became good friends, and when Paige died, Alan and Monica adopted Emily. In 2001, Skye Chandler came to Port Charles believing Alan was her biological father. After it was revealed he was not, Alan adopted the adult Skye. In 2007, Alan suffered multiple heart attacks while being held hostage by Jerry Jacks in the Metro Court Hotel. He later died at General Hospital. The Quartermaines suffered another loss when Emily was strangled to death just 10 months later. A.J. was also shot and killed in 2014, leaving Jason and Andrew as Alan's only living biological children. |
||
+ | In 1995, Monica, who was undergoing cancer treatment, befriended Paige Bowen, Emily's mother. After Paige's passing, Alan and Monica adopted Emily. After Steve Hardy's death in 1996, Alan became the chief of staff at General Hospital. He was temporarily ousted from the position between 1998 and 1999 but later reinstated and held the role until his death. Skye Chandler arrived in Port Charles in 2001, believing she was Alan's biological daughter. Despite discovering this was not the case, she was adopted by Alan and joined the Quartermaine family. In 2007, tragedy occurred when Alan succumbed to multiple heart attacks during a hostage situation at the Metro Court Hotel. |

+ | Tracy arrived in Port Charles in 1978, already divorced from Larry Ashton and mother to a son named Ned. She has consistently shown a fierce determination to gain power within ELQ, often clashing with family members who challenge her or her sons' positions in the company or vie for her father's favor. Tracy married Paul Hornsby and in 1992, they welcomed their son, Dillon. Following her divorce from Paul, Tracy left town, returning occasionally until 2003 when she settled back in Port Charles permanently. In 2006, it came to light that Tracy had an abortion in her youth, with the father's identity remaining undisclosed. In 2017, Tracy chose to start anew outside of Port Charles, yet she still returns for family visits. |

As an adult, he arrived in Port Charles in 1983 with his mother, aiming to claim their portion of the Quartermaine wealth, being Edward's illegitimate son. Jimmy Lee engaged in numerous plots to outmaneuver the Quartermaines. He fell for Edward's distant relative, Celia Quartermaine, and they eventually wed. Their marriage was short-lived as Celia could not cope with poverty, leading to their separation. Later, Jimmy Lee found love with Charity Gatlin, the owner of a country store. They married in 1987 and left Port Charles for Pautauk, New York, to manage the store. Charity had a son named Jonah. On July 13, 2021, it came to light that Jimmy Lee and Charity had a son, Austin, who disclosed Jimmy Lee's passing six months prior. |

The court revelation that Edward was Bradley's father initially made Justus hesitant to embrace his newfound relatives. Over time, however, he grew closer to them. A.J.'s one-night stand with Carly Spencer, which he was too intoxicated to recall, resulted in their son Michael. Carly falsely claimed Michael was Jason's child. After Michael's birth, Carly left him with Jason, but upon her return and the revelation of Michael's true paternity, A.J. and Carly married, sharing custody with Jason. Carly's affair with Sonny Corinthos led to a pregnancy, but she miscarried after a confrontation with A.J. The couple divorced, and Carly married Sonny, who coerced A.J. into relinquishing his parental rights to Michael. − | Jason, |
+ | Jason, originally named Jason Moore and later raised as Jason Quartermaine, is the eldest son of Alan and his mistress, Susan Moore. He was the pride of the Quartermaine family during his youth, aspiring to follow in his father and adoptive mother's footsteps as a doctor. However, after trying to prevent A.J. Quartermaine from driving under the influence, they were both involved in a car accident. Jason sustained permanent brain damage and amnesia. Disowning the Quartermaines, he left the mansion and took on the surname Morgan to honor his grandmother, Lila Morgan Quartermaine. He encountered Sonny Corinthos and became an enforcer for Sonny's criminal organization. Jason formed a special bond with his nephew Michael while Michael's mother, Carly Spencer, was recovering from postpartum depression. He later married Courtney Matthews, who became pregnant but tragically miscarried. |

In 2007, Jason fathered a son, Jake, with Elizabeth Webber from a one-night stand while she was married to Lucky Spencer. Lucky agreed to raise Jake due to the perils of Jason's lifestyle. Jason wed Sam in late 2011, and they welcomed their son Danny in 2012. Shortly after Danny's birth, Jason was presumed dead following a shooting and subsequent harbor incident involving Cesar Faison. Escaping captivity, Jason returned in 2017, leading to a divorce from Sam. In 2021, he helped rescue Drew Cain from two years of captivity but was again presumed dead after a tunnel collapse during a confrontation with Peter August. Defying fate, Jason reappeared in Port Charles in March 2024. |

+ | Drew is the second son of Alan and his mistress, Susan Moore. He is the twin of Jason, and his existence is unknown to the Quartermaines because Susan and her cousin Heather Webber kept him a secret. Susan intended to reclaim Drew after resolving Jason's custody with the Quartermaines, but she was murdered by Crane Tolliver. Subsequently, Betsy Frank raised Drew until he was three, then he was placed in foster care. Growing up, Drew learned about Jason and the Quartermaines but did not reach out, believing they were aware of him and chose to ignore him. Drew became a decorated Navy SEAL. He was later abducted by Cesar Faison, who had Andre Maddox implant Jason's memories into Drew's mind. In 2014, Drew awoke with amnesia, thinking he was Jason, and after an escape attempt, he was struck by Ava Jerome's car. He underwent emergency surgery at GH, where, without ID, he received a new face from a plastic surgeon. Eventually, he recovered Jason's memories, and for nearly four years, Port Charles believed Drew was Jason Morgan. His real identity was disclosed in 2017 when the actual Jason returned. |
+ | Drew has a son, Oscar Nero-Quartermaine, with Dr. Kim Nero, who passed away in his sleep from a cancerous brain tumor on April 29, 2019 (depicted on May 1, 2019), and a daughter with Sam McCall named Emily, after his late sister. Drew and Sam were married in 2017 but divorced the following year. Drew was believed to have died on August 23, 2019, after Peter August orchestrated the hijacking of his plane to Afghanistan. Hank Archer was hired by Dallas Kirby to scatter plane parts in the Gulf of Aden to simulate Drew's death. However, Drew was discovered alive in 2021, having been imprisoned for two years in a foreign compound by Victor Cassadine. |

The Quartermaine family is a very wealthy and prestigious fictional family on the American soap opera General Hospital. The Quartermaines have been a staple on General Hospital since their introduction in the late 1970s.
Background
- Edward Quartermaine (September 2, 1918 - November 20, 2012)
- Lila Morgan Quartermaine (April 29, 1918 - July 14, 2004)
In 1977, Dr.
Edward Louis Quartermaine son of George and Ida Quartermaine and grandson of Edgar and Martha Quartermaine, was the family patriarch until his death in 2012.
The Quartermaines are an eccentric and dysfunctional family, famous for their humorous quarrels. Whenever the Quartermaine mansion brimmed with family members, it was a certainty that arguments would ensue. The feud between Monica and Tracy often sparked conflict in the home. Additionally, Tracy's jealousy over Edward favoring Alan as his preferred child frequently stirred tension.
The family-owned enterprise, ELQ International, named after Edward Louis Quartermaine, has been at the heart of numerous familial conflicts.
In addition to their success in business, the Quartermaine family is renowned for their contributions to General Hospital. Both Alan and Monica have served as chief of staff, and their daughter Emily Bowen Quartermaine was a successful doctor. Other family members hold positions on the GH board of directors, and the family has made significant monetary donations to support the hospital's expansion.
Thanksgiving holds a unique place in the hearts of the Quartermaine family.
Several Quartermaines have honored Edward and Lila by naming their children after them.
Sam is the keeper of Lila and Alan's wedding rings. Ned bestowed Lila's engagement ring upon wife Olivia Falconeri. In 2020, Michael Corinthos presented Willow Tait with one of his great-grandmother Lila's rings as they prepared for marriage.
Several staff members of the Quartermaines have become like family.
Edward's descendants
The Rev. Dr. Bradley Ward
(1945 - July 1, 1974)
- Main article: Bradley Ward
Bradley was married to Isobel Ward at the time of his death in 1974. They had two children: a son, Justus, who was killed in 2006, and a daughter, Faith. In 1994, it was disclosed that Bradley had an affair with Kylie Quinlan, a judge's daughter. Kylie became pregnant with Bradley's child but suffered a miscarriage just before his death.
Dr. Alan James Quartermaine, MD
(February 23, 1948 - February 26, 2007)
- Main article: Alan Quartermaine
Alan Quartermaine, the first of his family in Port Charles, became a doctor at General Hospital in 1977.
In 1995, Monica, who was undergoing cancer treatment, befriended Paige Bowen, Emily's mother.
Tracy Angelica Quartermaine
(born circa April 6, 1949)
- Main article: Tracy Quartermaine
Tracy arrived in Port Charles in 1978, already divorced from Larry Ashton and mother to a son named Ned.
Jimmy Lee Holt
(circa 1953 - January 2021)
- Main article: Jimmy Lee Holt
Bradley's children
Justus Ward
(June 17, 1962 - June 16, 2006)
- Main article: Justus Ward
Justus, the grandson of Edward Quartermaine and Mary Mae Ward, arrived in town in 1994 following the discovery of his father Bradley's's body. Together with his new acquaintance Luke Spencer, he began investigating his father's murder. The court revelation that Edward was Bradley's father initially made Justus hesitant to embrace his newfound relatives. Over time, however, he grew closer to them. Defying Edward's wishes, Justus later joined his cousin Jason Morgan, a mobster, in his endeavors. Tragically, Justus was fatally shot by Manny Ruiz, a mob adversary, in 2006, a loss that deeply affected Edward.
Faith Ward
(born 1969)

A.J. was born to Monica and Alan, but was initially believed to be the son of Monica's lover, Rick Webber. Growing up close to his brother Jason, A.J. began to resent him as Jason became the family favorite, leading A.J. to alcoholism to cope with rejection. A.J. continually sought to reconnect with his son, and they began to bond when Michael reached adulthood. However, their time was cut short when A.J. was fatally shot by Sonny in 2014.

- Main article: Jason Morgan
Jason, originally named Jason Moore and later raised as Jason Quartermaine, is the eldest son of Alan and his mistress, Susan Moore.
In 2004, Jason claimed paternity of Sam McCall's unborn child to safeguard Sonny's marriage to Carly, but Sam's baby, named Lila after Jason's grandmother, was stillborn.
Drew has a son, Oscar Nero-Quartermaine, with Dr.
