Drs. Rick and Lesley Webber are fictional characters and an estranged widowed couple from the original ABC Daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
Rick was portrayed by Chris Robinson and Lesley is portrayed by Denise Alexander.
They were married from 1977-80 and again from 1981-2002, however from 1984-2002 they were estranged, which ended with his death in 2002.
From Rick's adoption of Lesley's daughter, their great-grandchildren include: Spencer Stefan Niklosovich Cassadine and Ace Niklosovich Cassadine through Nikolas, Cameron Steven Webber, Jacob Martin "Jake" Webber, and Aiden Spencer through Lucky, and Charlotte Honor Cassadine and Rocco Falconeri through Lulu.
Storylines[]
In 1977, Dr. Richard "Rick" Webber resurfaced alive and well after being captured by revolutionaries in Africa, and his former fiance Dr. Monica Bard and his brother Dr. Jeff Webber's marriage collapsed. Meanwhile, Rick got to know the recently widowed Dr. Lesley Sullivan, and a relationship blossomed, comforting her after she miscarried her late husband's baby.
When Rick and Lesley found her long-lost daughter Laura Vining, Lesley was hoping for a joyful reunion but Laura had grown into a teenager and didn't want anything to do with her. Laura believed that Lesley didn't care about her when the Vinings had taken her away. Rick then sat Laura down convinced her that both her mothers loved her. Lesley was grateful for Rick's efforts. Rick then confessed his love to Lesley and proposed. Lesley was shocked and agreed to be his wife. They were married that same year, and Rick legally adopted Laura.
In 1979, after a one-night stand with Rick, Monica became pregnant and wasn't sure if the father was him or her husband Dr. Alan Quartermaine. Lesley and Rick were pondering themselves whether they should have a baby. Unfortunately Lesley was told she couldn't conceive otherwise she would be putting her life into danger. Lesley later delivered Monica's son Alan James "A.J." Quartermaine, Jr. Monica told Lesley that the child was Rick's. After Lesley confronted Rick he left Port Charles to think about his feelings for both Lesley and Monica. He came back when little A.J. developed a heart problem and divorced Lesley so he and Monica could be together. It was discovered that Alan was the father. A devastated Rick went back to Lesley.
Rick immediately remarried Lesley and they adopted a six year old boy named Michael "Mike" Webber. Lesley and Rick then begin working at the Waterfront Teen Time Sports Center. They were devastated when Laura disappeared, but soon welcomed street kid Blackie Parrish, into their home upon his mother's death.
Rick and Lesley were later overjoyed when Laura was revealed to be alive after being kidnapped by the Cassadine family but tragedy would soon strike the Webber family again. A young woman named Ginny Blake came to town claiming to be little Mike Webber's biological mother, Lesley was tipped off by Bobbie Spencer that Ginny was running a scam and went to Ginny begging her to confess but Ginny refused.
Following Lesley staying late at work on the night of a bad storm, Chief Burt Ramsey showed up at the Webber's home to tell Rick the bad news - Lesley had died in an accident. Rick was devastated, eventually moving on with Ginny Blake. They married in August 1984, and left town on November 26, 1986 for New York City, as he had accepted a job at New York General Hospital.
It was revealed in 1996, that Lesley was indeed alive and being held captive in a catatonic state by the Cassadine family. Lesley was deeply traumatized by her experience and as a result, unable to practice medicine again. She eased into the new role of grandmother to Laura's children, but left town for Italy.
In 2002, Rick and Lesley reunited for the first time in over a decade, for Laura's wedding to Luke Spencer. She confided in him how angry she was from having years stolen away by her captivity. However she was happy that Rick was able to move on with his life.
During that same visit, Luke followed Laura and Rick to the attic where he discovered Laura over Rick's dead body. Laura had a severe mental break by the traumatic revelation that she had killed her father and was institutionalized. Lesley was devastated by Rick's death and Laura's mental collapse.
It was discovered in 2007, that Rick had been killed when Scott Baldwin bludgeoned to death with a candlestick. Scott had walked in on Rick injecting Laura with a drug and attacked him.
In 2013, Lesley returned to town, highly objecting to her daughter's coming nuptials to Scott Baldwin, as he was responsible for the death of her late husband, Rick.
