The Brownstone is a local combination boarding house, apartment building, and family home, on the Waterfront in Port Charles, New York.
History[]
The Brownstone Murders (1985)[]
Original Brownstone (1985)
The building was introduced in 1985 when lawyer Jake Meyer persuades Bobbie Spencer, to invest in a foreclosed Brownstone on Elm Street. Together, they started gathering tenants for their new home. The building also housed a law office in the basement, which Jake used for his work.
Shortly thereafter, Neil Johnson was found murdered in the Brownstone, with a sleepwalking tenant, Terry Brock, standing over him, knife in hand. The murder sent shockwaves through Port Charles, leaving the identity of the Brownstone killer shrouded in mystery. It was later revealed that Neil was a cousin of Kevin and Patrick O'Connor, who were also residents of the brownstone. Additionally, the strangled body of Neil's uncle, Earl Moody, was found, leading the suspicious Bobbie and Jake to investigate Terry. Eventually, Jake discovered that Kevin was the actual murderer who had set Terry up, planning to marry her and then kill her for her inheritance. In a climactic showdown, Terry ended Kevin's life by pushing him off a cliff.
Bobbie's Ownership[]
Bobbie fell in love with Jake, and they married in 1986. They adopted Skeeter and Melissa, children of a paraplegic woman named Martha McKee, and welcomed them into their brownstone after Martha's health declined. Melissa ran into trouble, fled to Florida, and was abducted by a malicious pimp who forced her into sex work. Bobbie pursued Melissa, posing as a sex worker to penetrate the criminal's circle and save Melissa. She managed to rescue her, but was arrested, and her checkered history was exposed to everyone in Port Charles. This led to Skeeter and Melissa being taken away from her and Jake. Disillusioned by her antics, Jake left for Paraguay to aid those in need, while Scott Baldwin, back in town, disposed of Jake's letters to Bobbie, prompting her to divorce him. Scott briefly dated Bobbie while working from the basement law office.
In 1986, Bobbie permitted Frisco and Felicia Jones to have their wedding in the brownstone's backyard, surrounded by family and friends. In that same year, amid a storm, Bobbie delivered Tania Jones's daughter, B.J., in her apartment. Following Tania's death, Bobbie married Tony Jones and adopted his children, B.J. and Lucas, nurturing them as a family in her ground-floor apartment.
In July 1988, a fire erupted in the Brownstone. While Terry and Bobbie were conversing at the table, Terry noticed the blaze and hurried upstairs to alert Felicia. Despite her frantic pounding on the door, Felicia, deep in sleep, did not hear her. Eventually, Terry's screams roused Felicia, who stumbled to the door amidst thickening smoke. Terry pulled her to safety, but Felicia, realizing she'd left Frisco's gifted music box behind, dashed back inside. In her attempt to retrieve it, she fell down the stairs, obscured by the dense smoke. Colton Shore, arriving later, panicked at not finding Felicia, however she was safely rescued. It was later uncovered by Robert Scorpio that the fire was an act of arson, orchestrated by a terrorist group DVX agent Collette Francois, who sought the music box left by Frisco.
Art rendering of the Brownstone (1996)
In February 1991, an earthquake nearly destroyed the building, injuring Felicia after she fell from the staircase. However, Bobbie quickly made plans to renovate the brownstone.
In July 1991, Mac Scorpio and Dominique Stanton sought refuge while evading Leopold Taub's henchmen. Dominique secured the Brownstone's attic as their hideout. However, Taub's men were alerted to their location and raided the Brownstone. Anna Devane later provided Mac and Dominique with the key to the attic. When Taub and his henchmen arrived, Anna stalled them to give Mac and Dominique time to conceal themselves. Despite her efforts, they barged in and proceeded upstairs. Anna called the police, who apprehended Taub's men just in time. Later, Taub's men returned taking Tony Jones, and subsequently Tom and Simone Hardy, hostage. When Anna was tracked back to the Brownstone, she and Finian O'Toole were captured and attacked. Mac came to their aid, and during the ensuing struggle, a gunshot allowed Taub to abduct Dominique. Post-conflict, Simone tended to Mac and Finian's wounds, and eventually, Robert Scorpio and the PCPD intervened to arrest the offenders.
In May 1992, Felicia Jones was assaulted outside of the Brownstone by the then-unknown assailant Ryan Chamberlain. Bobbie and Scott discovered a distraught Maxie Jones on the steps of the Brownstone and found Felicia lying on the sidewalk. For months, Felicia had no memory of her attacker before eventually recalling and incriminating Ryan.
In September 1992, Bobbie was taken hostage at the Brownstone by Joseph Atkins, an escaped convict. Joe tried to assault Bobbie, rendered Tony unconscious, and held him captive as well. The PCPD encircled the building, and Joe fled to the roof, attempting to escape via helicopter and shooting Sean Donely in the process. However, Mac piloted the helicopter, and after Joe boarded, a struggle ensued. Mac managed to safely land the helicopter on the roof and apprehend Joe.
In 1994, on the day of B.J.'s death, an enraged Tony expelled Bobbie from the Brownstone upon discovering her affair with Damian Smith. They reconciled for a brief period until 1996, when Bobbie found out about Tony's affair with "Carly Roberts" in their home.
After divorcing Frisco, Felicia brought up her daughters, Maxie and Georgie Jones, in the basement apartment of the Brownstone. Later, upon falling in love with and marrying Mac Scorpio, she and her daughters relocated to the Scorpio House.
Following their affair, Tony and Bobbie divorced but remained friends and co-parented Lucas in the Brownstone for many years. Bobbie frequently hosted events like Halloween parties, weddings, and Thanksgivings, and was always ready to rent a room to friends and family in need. Bobbie also didn't hesitate to express her disapproval of certain residents.
The original brownstone began making fewer appearances in the early 2000s, with its last appearance on screen in 2004. In 2006, after Tony's death, Lucas relocated to Seattle, while Bobbie remained in town. Subsequently, four years later, Bobbie also moved to Seattle to be with her son, apparently leaving the brownstone deserted. No mention of the brownstone's fate was made until 2014.
ELQ Ownership[]

In 2014, Michael Corinthos took over as the new CEO of ELQ Enterprises and disclosed the severe deterioration of the waterfront district where the brownstone is located. He proposed renovating their grandmother Bobbie's old brownstone and mobilized ELQ, his brother Morgan Corinthos, and his girlfriend Kiki Jerome to oversee a Waterfront Revitalization Project aimed at revitalizing the waterfront, creating numerous new jobs for the community. Levi Dunkleman was arrested at the brownstone during a protest against the redevelopment, led by him and Maxie Jones. Following the completion of the brownstone renovation, which now appeared vastly different from the original, Morgan and Kiki became its first residents. Ava Jerome, Kiki's mother, also temporarily moved in while evading Sonny Corinthos.
In October 2014, Avery Jerome-Corinthos was born at the brownstone after Nina Reeves induced Ava's labor with a drug. Following Avery's birth, Nina abducted her, seeking vengeance on Ava, and fled with Franco Baldwin.
By December, Michael had evicted Morgan and Kiki from the brownstone.
Elizabeth's Ownership[]
In June 2016, Elizabeth Webber and her sons Cameron, Jake, and Aiden, moved into the Brownstone following the destruction of their previous residence, the Webber-Spencer House, earlier that year. They settled into house number 12. Franco later moved in with them and became Elizabeth's husband. For a few months in 2019, Elizabeth's half-sister, Hayden Barnes, and her niece, Violet Finn, also lived there until Hayden left town, and Violet moved in with her father, Hamilton Finn.
In the autumn of 2021, Cameron moved into on-campus housing at Port Charles University along with his friends Josslyn Jacks and Trina Robinson. As of 2022, he still considers the Brownstone his primary home.
In 2024, after Lucky comes back to town, he and Elizabeth reconnect and become a couple again. Both he and Elizabeth are separately injured, and decide to live together at the Brownstone to as they recover.
In June, 2025, Lucky and Elizabeth declare their eternal love for each other - but recognize they are on different paths. Lucky says his goodbyes, gives best friend Isaiah Gannon the deed to the Spencer Cabin in Canada, and he and son Aiden leave town on June 11, to travel across Europe. A summer trip only for Aiden, Elizabeth and Lucky passionately kiss and reaffirm their love before he and Aiden fly off.
On July 28, upon learning the truth behind Drew Cain's lies, Willow runs out on their wedding, ending their relationship. She takes up temporary lodging with Elizabeth at The Brownstone.
After Drew is shot, Willow is given custody of Scout, who Elizabeth happily allows her to also temporarily stay with her. Willow and Drew also makeup and get back together, which Elizabeth discourages.
After learning that it was one of Edward Quartermaine's guns and its bullets that were used to shoot Drew, Michael quietly removes the firearm from the study and plants it in Willow's room.
On October 13, Willow agrees to move herself and Scout back in with Drew as he is discharged from the hospital. This is immediately complicated by her arrest for Drew's shooting. On the 20th, Willow is remanded to Pentonville Penitentiary and Scout is living with her father once again.Former Residents[]

Trivia[]
- In 2014, when the Brownstone was reintroduced, the original set was not utilized. Instead, the set that previously belonged to the Webber-Jones-Scorpio House was adjusted and used as a replacement, with a new kitchen set added where the front door was, and the front door now moved to the right side.
- Mount Hebron Church, the Scorpio-Drake House, and the childhood home of Luke and Bobbie Spencer were also situated on Elm Street. Additionally, the Elm Street Pier was a common sight on the Waterfront throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
