Dr. Tony Jones and Nurse Bobbie Spencer are fictional characters and a divorced couple from the original ABC Daytime soap opera, General Hospital.
Tony was portrayed by Brad Maule and Bobbie was portrayed by Jacklyn Zeman.
Storylines[]
Following the tragic death of his wife, Tania Raskov, Dr. Anthony "Tony" Jones married his friend Nurse Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Spencer in 1989, who adopted his daughter Barbara Jean "B.J." Jones, who had been named in her honor after Bobbie helped deliver B.J.
Bobbie desperately wanted a baby and purchased one on the black market before discovering that the baby belonged to Cheryl Stansbury. When Tony discovered the truth, they had to return him to his birth mother, Cheryl Stansbury. They were granted guardianship of Lucas a year later when Cheryl was killed in a car accident. Tony and Bobbie successfully fought for custody of Lucas Stansbury Jones against his maternal aunt, Tiffany Donely.
Later, after his marriage to Bobbie broke up under the stress of her kiss Damian Smith and the tragic death of B.J.. They separated but after counseling they got back together.
Soon they met new GH student nurse "Carly Roberts.". She was using a fake last name, befriended Bobbie, Tony, and Lucas, and solicited Bobbie's help as a mentor at GH...all the while deliberately seducing Tony. On Tony and Bobbie's wedding anniversary, Bobbie caught Carly and Tony in bed together, but Carly still didn't reveal her true identity; instead, Bobbie ran into Stefan Cassadine's arms.
Eventually they learned she was actually Carly Spencer, the daughter Bobbie gave up for adoption as a teenager. When Carly became pregnant by A.J. Quartermaine, she was initially uncertain whether Tony or A.J. had fathered her son Michael Corinthos.
Tony died in February 2006 during an encephalitis epidemic at General Hospital. Tony told those at his bedside that B.J. was there waiting for him and that he was dying happy.
In November 2019, Lucas goes to visit Tony's grave and Tony appears to him as a ghost. Tony later comforts Bobbie at the hospital while she remembers and grieves for him at the GH Memorial Wall.
