The Zacchara family was a fictional Italian-American family from New York City on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. They are known for their mob business.

Family history

Background

Anthony was married at one time to a woman named Domenica and they had a daughter named Claudia. Anthony later divorced Domenica and married a woman named Maria. A boy named Johnny was born, and was raised by Anthony and Maria.

When Claudia was sixteen years old, and Johnny was small, Claudia had a sexual encounter with Anthony's friend and lawyer, Trevor Lansing. Anthony blamed Claudia for being a slut and seducing him, and sent her away to Milan, Italy to live with Domenica's brother Rudy because Domenica had died.

When Johnny was seven years old, Anthony pointed a gun at him, trying to kill him. Maria stepped in front of Johnny and took the bullet for her young son, giving her life to save his.

Life in Port Charles

Anthony first comes to Port Charles in 2007 and starts a mob rivalry with Sonny Corinthos. Soon later, Anthony's son, Johnny, comes to town as well. In 2008, Claudia comes to Port Charles to live with her father and brother.

Claudia puts a hit out on Sonny, but the hired gunman, Ian Devlin, misses and hits his son Michael instead, putting him in a coma. Later, Claudia marries Sonny in order to stop mob wars between him and Anthony, and Michael later wakes up. Then, Claudia gets pregnant with Sonny's child and miscarries. When Sonny finds out that Claudia was responsible for Michael's shooting, he threatens her and Claudia goes into shock and kidnaps Michael's mother, Carly Benson. On October 31, 2009, while trying to save his mother, Michael kills Claudia with an axe handle.

In 2012, it is learned that as a young teenager, Anthony had pimped Claudia out to his mob associate Gino Soleito, and that Johnny was not her brother, but her son. Johnny becomes even angrier at Anthony for everything he's done and wants him dead. On May 22, 2012, Johnny shoots and kills Anthony. In early 2013, Johnny was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murders of Cole and Hope Thornhart and his father Anthony Zacchara.
